Needs to get serious about his professionalism from what I’ve heard, if he does the sky is the limit. He’s definitely talented enough but has to build his tank so he can play midfield at AFL level.

Cheers for the insight. Takes some longer than others to understand the professionalism required. Hopefully he works it out sooner rather than later.

Makes me wonder why our match selection committee continued to reward him with so many senior games off no form.

Not just him. But perhaps they wanted to show him how far off he is and how serious he needs to get to make it. We invested a lot in him. Traded up and away to get his pick. He needs to come good.

Why would Campbell knock that ball into a dangerous spot? Surely you thump it for a behind. Mind boggling.

Pretty sure it’s a free kick if the ruckman taps it through directly.

Half time at Casey Fields

Casey well in control by 44 points

Casey 11 goals 5 behinds 71

Willy 4 goals 3 behinds 27

Edited by Tarax Club

laurie interviewed at half time and asked about what he needs to do to get into the afl - "i need to keep working to improve everything; if i want to be picked i need to take a spot from viney, claz, or trac"

great first half from him fwiw

My guess is because these things are complex. He seems to be a confidence player as well; perhaps they felt he was someone who would respond positively to encouragement and support and self belief rather than to punishment and being chastised?

...and one might be his Dad, who's watching from the outer!

I can see Yze and Kentfield in our forward line next year, Kalani White as an option ad well.

All good points as well.

It is much more complex than"drop them to put a rocket up them".

Isn't it a free against if the defending ruck knocks it through?

Thanks.... did not know that but I don't think I've seen a ball up on the goal line in years

TC take a bow son. Sesto was fab in much of the 2nd

Loved Bill's desperation spoil deep in defence too

Commitment over the ball and willingness to chase / tackle was first class.

Keep bringing the heart & second effort we saw in that 2nd and we're on track

Yze, Brown, Woewodin, White, Rigoni. It's throwback central around the club of late!

Go Casey! Bring it home.

So am I correct in thinking we can no longer take young Noah under Father Son? Assume he would nominate for the draft now and be open to all clubs including Dees.

Yes it is, having a seniors moment 😬

Mentha coming along very nicely indeed.

Him Sesto & TC (as a Max managed option at times) surely get a number of games at senior level in 26

Cool the Jets on yze.

Good converter but has taken two uncontested marks i50, received a downfield [censored] and a [censored] in a marking contest. Had one good assist where he read the ball well off the pack.

Culley is a weird one. He's such a brute but often can try too much on his own - it's a weird comparison but in traffic he reminds me of Brodie Grundy....when he was with us he would smash through bodies and just always seemed to try too much....teammates couldn't read him and often ended up turning it over. A negative synergy player.

Not saying Culley is that, but he needs to use his power to beat one man then dish to space

What’s the story with young Yze? Can we draft him under the father/son?

Not now

We had a look at him last year and he wasn't ready. This is his best game that I've seen. Will he make it? Like his size for a flanker

no way, when a father-son kicks 4 to half time in a vfl elimination final shout it out loud!

interesting comparison with culley

kolt is a bit the same - he's good in congestion but his decision making is sometimes a worry

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
