Who’s Playing Their Last Game In The Red & Blue tonight?

Featured Replies

Who do we suspect we may not see either playing for the Dees, or playing at all next year?

The obviously contentious ones are Trac/Oliver, but Salem, May, McVee, Sparrow, Rivers (and more) don’t exactly feel like sure bets heading into the long break.

I would envisage all those players bar McVee being there next year. May would be a chance to retire, but he’s already signed for ‘26. Maybe TMac?

Could depend on who that feral Maynard has in his sights this time

I can see Rivers being frustrated by his lack of midfield time this year. But I'd be astounded if the club entertained a trade.

Hoping you’re right. I feel like Riv’s best footy is still ahead of him.

Trac

Oliver

Sparrow

Salem

bye bye

Jeez bottom 2 if that the case JR three of our top four players on the list???

The only 3 that could miss are TMac, Milkshake and Lever. A new coach will rekindle the playing group but I will watch this space with much interest.😁👍

Sorry that was Freudian slip I meant May but said Rick.😁

This is something I've pondered for a little whiles now.

We could have little change, or significant change ( or in between i suppose) . Just about covers it all lol.

I just have a real gut feeling the winds of change are about to howl through our cloisters.

There are those perhaps at their game's end. Some will seek other pastures, some put out to pasture and others moved elsewhere and ask not to let door hit you when going past-ya ...

The list needs attention. Some movements will seem possibly obvious others might be collateral.

As often happens with these situations it can come down to domino effects. Something/someone happens and proves to be a catalyst for another's thinking. Some trade opportunities aren't even embryonic currently but will be born once the creative juices get pumping among the various other team's list managers.

If we have predominantly the same list in 26 as 25 well Houston we'd have a problem.

Time to prune and re-plant.

Some will know or have a distinct inkling about tonight. Others.... well that bus is still around the corner out of sight.

I wish all well.

Go us !!

I tips me lid as well to those that won't actually take the field tonight yet may well experience that their time as a Dee has come to an end.

Go well. Thanks for having a crack.

Trac stays Viney takes his place.

I reckon May’s had enough

You're not the first to suggest this ( and not just here... heard elsewhere)

I'd entertain offers for any / all of May, Salem, Sparrow and Langdon. Lever as well.

Oliver is not going anywhere unless he takes a massive pay cut.

Petracca is not going anywhere unless his new club offers up a king's ransom for him.

Hopefully McDonald plays on, but I'm not fussed about Melksham.

McVee's situation is definitely a concern.

I'd be happy to see Sharp play VFL for the remainder of his contract.

NOT JUDD!

😁

No one's offering us a Kings ransom for Tracc.

We're talking about 25/26 variety here... not the 21/22 kind.

There will be suitors and i suspect we'll get fair-ish exchange ( should it happen ) but it won't be massive.

Can't see anyone doing/thinking much ( with serious intent) until Coach named. Without doubt he'll be talking to some very quickly about futures.

Tonight is definitely the end of an era. I am not sure who goes and who stays, but 2026 will feel like a completely different side with a new coach and multiple changes to the playing list.

So long brief period of premiership glory. I will never forget you.

It could always be worse, we could be Carlton supporters

Buckley already anointed

They'll unveil him in a Polestar, that's full of Grill'd Cheese Royales

It could always be even worse. We could be Essendon supporters.

An era that I think we'll look back on and say "it could have been more".

It just goes to show how hard it is to win flags. It is a very fine margin.

A couple of kicks, a bounce of a ball, one less concussion, a Melksham ACL. Any one of those changes could have resulted in another flag or maybe 2.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

It’s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle – perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?
