Personally. Responsible.

You donโ€™t want that pressure

I forget to include the selection received for McVee, another dart to throw at the board!

I know, ridiculous.

There are clearly 5 faries in the garden

Walter would be a great get.

Hearing whispers the AFL won't even hold a draft this year as there are no good players in it

We will receive an I.O.U from the Suns for Petracca

Because heโ€™s not in the team would be a pretty easy guess โ€ฆ

Also doubt heโ€™s wrapt to hear JUH is coming

Surely they arenโ€™t going to bring JUH in. Wasnโ€™t this only his second year? I wouldnโ€™t have thought missing some games in your second season is too much to worry about.

Can confirm Walter is very much disgruntled at the Suns, and would entertain a move to the right club. I have heard from several people in the know up here. One very credible source in particular. Be interesting if we entertain this move if Humphrey doesn't work out?

He is a Queenslander and we just took Mihocek.

Would love him, but we need goal kicking mids more, but yes you would have to be interested.

I think he would be harder to get out of the Suns BUT they are now talking to JUH. That would make Walter even angrier.

Would you take Walter and clear JVR and Woey back home to Eagles for a high pick, they do have 1 and 2 and tell them we will let Judd go to them if Freo are too difficult.

My reticence to acquiesce to these picks has little to do with โ€˜this draftโ€™ and more to do with where they fall. I donโ€™t think getting the tenth best talent this year and another more spectacular selection is tantamount to 4 more years of Petracca.

Just keep him. Tell him now and ruin his holiday.

WTF do I care

So does that mean if we donโ€™t get a player/s we will accept pics??

Absolutely, a lot of the current verbatim and messaging is just puffery by the club due to the trade dance.

The Petracca trade will get done as will Oliver. May is the only one who is a chance to stay, though that isnโ€™t by design.

It doesn't have to be. We can take a stand and hold Petracca to his contract and send McVee to the PSD.

We want Petracca gone, this isnโ€™t some โ€˜if we can find a suitable trade, weโ€™ll work with all parties to facilitate somethingโ€™ good faith negotiation ร  la ANB last season.

That's not what I heard King say re Petracca in his interview on SEN, he wants Petracca to stay. The messaging is quite different for May and Oliver. Walking back the Petracca trade is a real option if we don't get adequate compensation.

Thanks for adding Jed Walter to the rumour mix! I needed a boost.

So, the new and improved final result of the trade frenzy fantasy will now be;

Spargo becomes Mihocek.

McVee (to Dockers) becomes Steele (from Saints) via ontraded picks.

Petracca (to Suns) and Oliver (to GWS) become Humphrey and Walter (both from Gold Coast).

May becomes a late pick, although I don't even know who wants him at the moment.

We probably shape our draft to sneak one pick in the mid-late first round for a player we rate higher than others do, and then lurk at the back end to collect White and Sinnema and some speculative kids. The classic high-low draft pattern that we built our list on.

Go into 2026 with a major shift of leadership figures and a metric walrus of salary cap space to hunt with.

Been following this thread on and off with much frustration, so have a suggestion - it might be worthwhile considering splitting 'Rumours' into 'Purely Rumours' and 'Musings and Opinions'? 'Purely Rumours' could be for just that, making for more efficient and interesting reading, and thus leaving 'Musings and Opinions' for 1+1=3, 4, 5, 6 or 7 lines of thought, unfounded thought bubbles and pure fantasy and conjecture?

Now that is a rumour, nice work WDM. Do you think he would move to Victoria, and would Melbourne want him?

Yes he would but the wording I heard was too "the right club". I have no idea what that means.
I also have no idea if we have asked the question to either his manager or the suns.

It doesn't matter how much, as long as you have a flutter.

We need to throw an awful amount at anyone wanting to play for us.

I know I'm adding to your angst, but the pure drivel posted on this thread is incredible.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven Mayย

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.
