It is barely 48 hours since the decision to replace SG was made. I seriously doubt there is even a group formed. It would have to contain the new CEO though what he knows about AFL coaches is debatable.

The group has indeed been formed. It includes Alan Richardson

Has the 'Save Judd McVee' committee been formed?

John Longmire very cagey on 360.

Didn't exactly shut the door, but definitely left it open..

That's my take anyhow.

How did he sound compared to Bucks this morning?

Bucks definitely have me the impression he’d be strongly interested in the position, albeit that he’d have to weigh coaching against his cushy media gig

John Longmire gets the job if he wants it.

But, Nathan Buckley is probably 2nd or 3rd choice.

Will be interesting what Adam Simpson says too....

Three early options being discussed

1. Nathan Buckley as head coach,

Jimmy Bartel as GM of football.

2. Corey Enright head coach,

Ken Hinkley as GM of football.

3. Cameron Bruce as head coach,

Adam Simpson as GM of football.

What we need is a new younger coach with 2025 experience who believes he can take us back into the top 4 in the next couple of years.

I don't think top four in two years is realistic. We have a lot of problems and it's unlikely they can be fixed that quickly particularly considering players like Gawn, May and Melksham are close to the end.

The only benefit of Buckley expressing some interest is that other coaches will know there is some competition and can't fluff us around and over price themselves.

Otherwise he is still too robotic and doesn't have it in his DNA to build natural connections with players.

Simpson or Longmire for mine

I'm not so sure he is that keen, all I got from his comments was that he was loving getting paid ****eloads for doing g not much in the media atm. Of course he would take the call but who wouldn't.

He seems interested to me. I'm calling it. Longmire will be our next coach.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
