Stability is great when things are working. Disruption is necessary it's not.

True.

I'm not sure we have the same stability over the last couple of years though. We need to get back to a functioning club and FD all on the same page

Just got the Bring a friend for free to Round 22 text ....... any ideas on who to bring?

It’s also the players that haven’t been performing so it’s fair to say that they don’t know what they need. Being hum-hah with the coach isn’t necessarily the key ingredient for success.

Wow so Goody’s gone & you now attack a senior player a day after gut wrenching news. Do we just need to keep finding people to blame ?

You're arguing against something @MrFreeze didn't say.

He never said he had an issue with Langdon's comments or whether he should be honest or not. He said it speaks to the comfort level of the playing group under Goodwin and the need for some "disruption" to kick them into gear (not "distraction").

It had been less than 24 hours since learning his coach whom he and his teammates love and respect had been sacked and you wanna read a level of complacency into his comments? Poor Ed was probably still shocked and had yet to get his head around it. You say it speaks to the level of comfort of the playing group under Goodwin. I say it speaks to the sadness and shock of the playing group immediately upon learning of the loss of Goodwin.

Who's idea was it to put Ed on the presser?

He is clearly not the most savvy media guy out there. Remember the 'all duck no dinner' debacle?

Not blaming Ed, he is a lovely guy, was honest and wanted Simon to know he loves him.

We should have used Max or Lever who would have answered in a way that respects Goody but also does not directly conflict with the clubs decision to make us look (more) foolish.

how does it make us look foolish? why should everyone bow down to the board? he clearly said he didnt believe we needed a new voice but the board did. there is absolutely nothing wrong with that and didnt make anyone look like a [censored]

So you’d rather he’d lied? Because that’s exactly what he would’ve been doing had he said what YOU expected him to say.

You don’t like what he said. That doesn’t mean what he said is wrong. He was expressing HIS feelings, not YOURS.

I can tell you are upset by what has happened my little sheet rack please ignore the junk that is posted on here by people who have no compassion or soul

Has anyone listened to the entire interview? Because Langdon also goes on to say that it's exciting to have change and it will be good to have a fresh start.

Seriously get off his [censored], he's a footballer not a politician.

It's his 200th game and he was probably booked in for this press conference weeks ago. I'm sure he was looking forward to fronting the media today as much as anyone looks forward to a colonoscopy.

Different response to Langdon but again, good honesty from Viney.

Jack says he fully understands that its a cut throat industry and he and the players are fully supportive of it moving forward.

Results speak louder than words. Loving your coach is not mutually exclusive with needing a fresh voice.

Also who can take him seriously in that beanie 😂

You could say Goody and the players, were a bit "'all duck, no dinner"

Good interview by Jack.

Shouldn't be too many complaints about that interview but I’m sure some on here will whinge about something in it. It’s the demonland way!

It wasn’t a player, the players found out via Facebook and other socials at the same time everyone else did.

You're guessing

Gawn was told by Goodwin and likely Gawn told the leadership group

Over the past 24 hrs I’ve had this nagging feeling that we made the wrong call, despite believing we had to do it… That interview helped ease my concerns. If that is representative of the broader feeling among the players, then hopefully the damage to the playing group is contained.

Finding myself quite anxious about this weekends game.. would be so disappointing to be blown off the park.

At least one member of the leadership group found out via socials. Not guessing, this is a fact.

What do you mean “couldn’t rouse those players”?!! You seriously think they found out on Facebook because they slept through a video meeting??!! At least three players were wide awake and found out while scrolling on their phones. One found out when his mate told him he heard about it on the radio.

Ed said in his presser the zoom call involved the senior players and they then managed to get around to most of the other players"before it dropped"....... perhaps not all?

Clearly not all

The much bigger issue is who is the rat that is leaking everything out of this club?

We may never find out. Speculation is all we’ve got and that only causes more angst.

It's been going on for far too long, ever since Jackson left we've been leaking like a faulty tap. It's really insane to me how we haven't managed to make it stop.

It is so detrimental to the club.

It also doesn't excuse the club not informing players in a timely manner, or indeed the paying members. Nobody wants to find anything out from Tom [censored] Morris, except that he's resigned from the media.

It's been a long day and I thought you meant Luke Jackson at first.

  • AFLW REPORT: West Coast

Melbourne’s response to last week’s heartbreak was emphatic, as the Demons delivered a statement win over West Coast at a windswept Casey Fields. All of the pre-match hype surrounded the coach’s box matchup of Mick Stinear up against his apprentice, Daisy Pearce along with the gloomy weather forecast. In the end, it was less about tactical chess and more about Melbourne’s relentless execution. With rain looming, the DeeArmy and early birds snapped up the best undercover viewing spots.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: West Coast

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.
