Its been 1,041 days since we completely pantsed the Dogs on Sept. 25, '21. Look where Footscray are at compared to us now.

Their first win against a top 8 side this year?

They can also be very flaky. However a couple of wins like that at the pointy end can do wonders.....

They are no more than 2 or 3 players away from another grand final appearance IMHO. We are a minimum of a dozen - best case scenario.

... and yet they have lost to the Lions (x2) and Freo this year, teams that we have beaten. perhaps "a dozen" is overstating it. I would say we are a Darcy and a Norton from winning our next premiership!

If I don’t laugh, I’ll cry 😭

If the Hawks lose tonight they will miss finals imo

poor percentage and have Lions and Pies to come

Tomorrow night's Pies/Lions clash is shaping as the match of the season

Their rivalry stems back to the start of the 20th century*! And even further back if the 19th Century VFA days are factored in

*In the first 34 years of the VFL, the Lions & Pies shared 16 Premierships. Side by side suburbs

Smith St would have been a fascinating sight way back when. One side of the road Fitzroy, the other side Collingwood

gunston been a great player for the hawks

and probably their only likeable player as well

Hawks applying amazing pressure all over the ground. Something we used to do but can only dream about these days.

Good start by hawthorn.

I know others don't like hawthorn but I want the hawks & dogs in the finals because I feel they vould knock off Collingwood or Geelong.

I feel gold coast will not do anything in finals & will waste a spot in the 8

Will Day is looking like the best midfielder in the comp at the moment.

Adelaide playing like Melbourne.

hardly; we started like dingley last week, finished like the crom!

Crows have got stagefright

Still, there's a fair bit left in the match

the crows always moan and carry on when they lose a player.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
