The commentators all go with Option 1.

But one bloke last week used the second one.

Game Televised LIVE from Whitten Oval from 7.00 pm courtesy of 7 MATE !! 😁

This is why the match is at Whitten Oval.

Ch 7 no longer does Saturday AFL but can broadcast VFL on Saturdays, hence 7MATE televising tonight’s game. But not all grounds are equipped for broadcasting matches, especially at night. Whitten Oval is one that is suitable.

But the station won’t allow you to tape the game.

Can't imagine there being any more than two guys and a dog there tonight. Rain currently tanking it down where I'm at not far from the ground. Shame they couldn't have played it early in the afternoon.

If there's a Scotsman loudly enjoying the downpour outside the Victoria Hotel.

Avoid.

Late change Sestan out and emergeny KIrkwood-Scott in.

Callum Brown on the 7mate panel.

Mercifully the rain appears to have lessened in intensity from the earlier interviews.

No chance. I'm at home watching TC.

If there's any wind there tonight it'll be to the direction we're currently kicking to.

Bonner, a cut above at this level. Billings a million possesions, T Mac also above this level! No 74 like his skills and intensity who is he??

Pleased to read that Rab. Good night in.

That debutant for Casey is s bit of a potato.

Dropped so easy marks that has resulted in turnovers.

Casey free kick exclusion zone out there.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!
