    I thought it might be at Punt Road and was thinking of dropping by but its at Windy City aka Casey
     

    Good news about May if true.

    Seems like we would've been one tall defender down too many on Thursday night if he, Lever and Turner were all out.

    Now we can keep Petty in the forward line.

    Hopefully May can get some continuity into this footy and play the next dozen games without interruption as his form has suffered as a result.

    All that post says is he “looks set to return.” In Goody’s actual presser he makes clear it’s looking good but he does not say it’s a certainty.

    Turner for May is obvious. McVee comes in, I'd make the change for Sharp, but then not sure who gets the sun. Melksham perhaps.

    Im looking forward to seeing May and McVee added to the defence. We look a great mix of strength and dash back there now. I also think Sparrow’s finding a role on the HFF and enjoyed his game against Freo. Big game against a rapidly improving and well coached Richmond.

    So frustrating that Hore is injured all the time when Lever is out. He is a good mark and solid kick

    And now Turner out again. when will we ever have the same talls week in week out??

    I am a bit nervous about May going down in game to be honest.

    Do we need to make a contingency for this? It’s either Petty back, to which we need a tall target to replace, or we select Adams so Petty stays forward?

    My interpretation of Goody's presser is that May and McVee will both be in. Turner out (concussion) and I suspect Howes goes out. Given the gash on Melksham's leg I suspect he won't play. Fritsch only played a half at Casey - to me a sign that he will be straight back in (which will create an interesting discussion in these parts).

    Howes should keep his spot anyway with Petty forward and Lever out

    I thought his presser was notable as he certainly seemed to open the door for Fritta or JVR to return as soon as this week.

    We seem to get an injury a week this season. Doesn't explain our woeful year but it's hard to build consistency

    Not that it really matters, but I don’t think he will play VFL, 4 days after his first game back.

    Windsor was also reported for his late bump on Serong. I like his intent and aggression but like Pickett, he needs to learn how to rein it in.

    Collingwood do nothing but aggressively apply pressure and nothing gets done . Pies players bump off the ball and even when you are out of play. makes opposition tentative and release the ball quickly when off balance. Hawthorn and Geelong put on more pressure than any game ive seen for a while. tackles were hard elbows and fists were always backing up a contact. An elbow to the head when an opponent on the ground all part of the pressure. Commentators applaud that hardness at the ball.

    The opposition are not your mates they are not your friends hit em hard. If we are going to be penalised for that then make the league aware that other sides must also be treated the same.

    The 3 teams you have named are HQ favourites so any sanction is unlikely.

    the only other consideration is Jeffo in for another tall target FWD. Does re replace Melk?

    I'd get Fritsch in straight away. Some players are just too good to leave out for too long and he's one of them.

    If Melksham is under an injury cloud then it's an easy choice for me.

    Windsor was graded as careless conduct, low impact, high contact (he did get him in the head with his shoulder albeit not hard), which by the grading system is a fine.

    Ok cool. No worries.

    Bailey Smith should be graded as intentional conduct, low impact, high contact.

    By the current grading system, that’s a week, because it was intentional and high.

    Having listened to Selwyn's report, I reckon there is a chance Campbell comes in for Fullarton too. Seems Campbell was clearly managed with an eye towards Thursday night....

    Could be four changes: IN: May, McVee, Fritsch and Campbell. OUT: Turner, Howes, Melksham and Fullarton.

    Another poster who I agree with.

    One change only. That would be May only if he is 100%

    A good effort by a young team that needs to be rewarded.

      Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

      Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
