Sad Family Time GIF by Lifetime

After last week I wasn't going to go today but have backflipped as the kids said they wanted to go. I don't know if they know what they are in for, I am genuinely worried about today.

Dees in a close finish?

It’s fitting this is an Easter game being we are generally Freo’s bunnies. I would have liked to have seen Adams brought in for May but otherwise the changes have us look more balanced and at least we have 2 forwards that have been kicked goals at the lower level recently. What I hope to see is manic effort and a focus on structure without the ball. I hope to see movement forward when we have it and movement forward of the ball for those wanting it. I hope the player with the ball trusts his gleam mate and looks to execute the first attacking option to a player that puts us in the best chance to score.

If Sparrow is going to tag Brayshaw or Serong do it at the bounce not at the expense of another position. Time to move Viney forward and Rivers in the rotation. Let Langford and Oliver rotate and Trac or Pickett rotate. Windsor back to the wing and Chin to high half forward.

I don’t think we’ll win today but I do think there is a great chance to show the first true steps of change that will have us moving in the right direction.

Whats not discussed is our first 3 games at the G have been against GWS, GC & Freo with poor attendances and impacting on gate receipts, the AFL finds a way to dump on us.The finances of our club need to be considered sitting @ 0-5 & possible worse come Anzac eve!

Hopefully we can somehow get a win but if we don't we always have below and no-one can ever take that from us no matter how hard they try.

Sportsbet have Freo at $1.29. Looks overs to me.

I got on Freo earlier in the week @ $1.45. Hope I lose my money ... (not likely!)

Were already depressed about this season and its only Round 6.

I never thought I'd ever say this but thank you Essendon.

You have given us the chance to get out from being the worst club in the league points wise at least.

Go Dees.

And I hope Fritta enjoys his time in the magoos.

Got 2 x Free tickets if anyone is keen, please DM me and I’ll send via text.

Centre wing Medallion Club (basically just AFL Reserve I believe).

Go Dees!

Thank you club who manhandled us so easily last week for scratching past the worst team of the last 3 years and nearly blowing it. We are in your debt

Three coffees and two Red Bulls in and I’m fired up and ready to go!!!

There’s a chance we’ll lose today.

There’s a chance we’ll win.

I’m gonna focus on the chance of a win.

RAISE HELL, DEES!

❤️💙❤️💙❤️💙

Note: gates open earlier today (11:30am), due to the extra time needed to check folks upon entry. Sadly though, I don’t think the extra time is needed since it won’t take long to check so few people 😢

and no gunns likely

Freo are a great team. Solid midfield, defence and ruck.

2 McDonalds and 2 Sharps.

A fwd line that struggles to accrue 60 points each week with a back line that concedes about 100 points each week.

And a midfield that plays like a group of headless chickens ....we are still a good chance to win.

Not sure if your being sarcastic. But if you are about the fact that they manhandled us, I would not say that was their( Essendon's) fault, Sir.

Our players are grown men and seasoned players, so if anyone is to be blamed for them being manhandled, I would strongly suggest to start there.

Anything else imho, is just making excuses. And poor ones at that

I'm not suggesting for a second that you are BP, but anyone who does, is a complete fool.

Enjoy the game.

I am positive today.

Why?

I think our mids will take up the challenge matching Freos stars.

Fullarton in signals a new approach or emphasis on better approach forward . That’s it, not much but I’m going to enjoy it.

True with the crowd but what a great opportunity for the AFL to look at curtain raiser again. Even under 18s

I like it. We still have a midfield that can bully the opposition, but we must get some (early) return on it and we're a chance. Would help if viney oliver langdon and a few others hit the scoreboard. They all get their chances but choke inside 50 time and time again. Expecting our front 6 to kick a winning score is huge ask. Push forward and snag a few

No chance. Anything below 50 loss will be positive. But Ill be there nonetheless

I’m not superstitious but I do wear the same Melbourne socks to every match. However, this year I’ve been wearing our new Demon Army socks. I couldn’t find them this morning so I’m wearing the Melbourne socks today. We all know what that means, don’t we boys and girls?! Yep, a win for sure!

Y’all are soooo welcome 😘

I'm going. Which bar has the best view of the park land?

It’s game day baby. Pumped!

Dees by 5 points in a close one.

No Lever, no May, no worries. We have Blake Blazer Howes.

Go Dees!

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

  • PREGAME: Brisbane

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
