That's the exact reason I want him gone.

He's stubbornness is born out of incompetence not confidence. Blokes clueless and out of touch.

Were going nowhere and clubs are blowing past us at the speed of light.

And itโ€™s posts like this that make me laugh because you can want him gone all you like, heโ€™s going nowhere. ๐Ÿ˜…

This club is clueless.

We are destroying JVRs development as a key forward, if I were him I'd be looking to get out quick smart.

Same could be said for dropping Fritch. They both have skill and can play well, but both arenโ€™t. But the most part Petty has been average for quite some time, since Adelaide showed interest, itโ€™s been downhill from there.

Viney, Rivers and Sparrow should be next on the block.

None one of these players have come even remotely close to putting in a half decent performance this year.

He's only just been moved into some serious CBA time though BBP.

McVee back soon to bolster things down back will help counter balance Rivers into the middle hopefully.

If he has a decent hitout at Casey on Sat hopefully back for Anzac eve.

Iโ€™m having a good chuckle to myself imagining demons supporters crying tears of joy after waiting a lifetime to see the Dees make it to the pinnacle of the sport and youโ€™re just like โ€œwho cares itโ€™s one lousy flag!โ€

I wish we had signatures on our Demonland profile. This would go in there. "One lousy flag" - Picket 'Shouts at Clouds' Fence.

The nuffiness is dribbling everywhere in this thread. I've just wasted an hour of my life reading the last 5 or so pages post the selection news. More whinging than my cats.

I'd be focusing on getting my arms out in front and taking simple grabs when I do the hard work to get into position.

JVR needs a lot of work on his forward craft.

Not sure Chaplin has helped him so far.

He probably means one โ€œlousyโ€ flag because most of us didnโ€™t get to see that one flag, and wonโ€™t have the opportunity to see one anytime soon.

It may well be what he meant but itโ€™s NOT what he said. You canโ€™t expect a comment like that to remain unaddressed.

Incidentally, I donโ€™t think thatโ€™s what he meant at all. I think by โ€œone lousy flagโ€ he meant it was a lousy flag because it wasnโ€™t followed by more flags, and it has little to do with where it was played. Youโ€™ve just furnished him with an excuse.

I feel sorry for Fullarton. Thankfully he has got his deserved opportunity, but it's against a top backline. Pearce, Cox, Ryan (?) are seriously good players, so the chances of him (Fullarton) doing much in his first Demons hitout are not good.

He should have been selected against Essendon, which would have potentially given him an easier/more realistic assignment.

His performance should be assessed in this light. And, subject to showing at least something, he shouldn't be dropped after just one match.

Good luck young fella.

Given May and Kozzie are under injury clouds, my moneyโ€™s on Fritta getting a late reprieve given heโ€™s an emergency.

A possible token wake up call?

Iโ€™ve a questionโ€ฆ

So, Frittaโ€™s been named as an emergency meaning he has to be at the โ€˜G for the firsts, right?

Heโ€™s been told heโ€™s in the Casey side playing at Casey Fields in a match that starts at 11:05am tomorrow.

Yesterday morning when he was told heโ€™s been dropped he was told heโ€™d be playing a half at Casey.

Does this mean heโ€™ll leave Casey Fields at halftime and head to the โ€˜G before the start of the seniors match?

If so, is that something that happens regularly?

Thatโ€™s actually three questions, but whatโ€™s an extra couple oโ€™ questions between friends?

Four questions now. ๐Ÿ˜…

Yes, he'll head to the G as an active emergency player after playing his half.

So basically if there's a last minute change then he'll be the first emergency in unless they have nominated one of the other emergencies to completely miss the VFL game then unfortunately he'll be the back up option after that.

This is a pretty common within AFL industry and has been for many years now.

If Fritta has been dropped to find form, how does he do that by only playing a half of football at Casey? Doesnโ€™t make sense to me. Itโ€™s like dropping Turner for one game when there was no VFL match for his form to improve. So it cannot be that they are trying to get them to recapture form at Casey, itโ€™s more like โ€œyouโ€™ve been naughty, now sit in the naughty corner till you are sorry for the mistakes you have madeโ€.

Thanks. I told Mrs Fritta Iโ€™d find out what the go is. Actually, itโ€™s hard for his fam. Theyโ€™re going to Casey to support him (including 12-day-old son, Noah) and now theyโ€™ll have to pack up everything and everyone at halftime to head over to the โ€˜G. I guess they donโ€™t have to be there right on time for the first bounce since itโ€™s highly unlikely that Fritta will be out on the field at that time, but now that Iโ€™ve said itโ€ฆ

One more question, or rather, an opinionโ€ฆ

Do you think Fritta will be put back in the firsts next week, or more importantly, the week after (vs Eagles in Perth)?

Seriously impressive effort to get back playing AFL footy after being delisted and copping not one, but two very serious, long term injuries.

Respect.

And any league that doesn't have two OMacs running around in then CAN'T BE SERIOUS.

Ed Langdon & Oscar McDonald both debuted in the same game

Ed for Freo and Oscar for us

He certainly does. Three years with us have assured that.

Only my thoughts,

I like having some changes, we were heading nowhere land.

Kolt to play 3 quarters bring on Melky.

I think Petty is in need of a rest to find form at Casey.

Viney as well, but vines does not need to play, just have a break.

Dogga brown 2.0 unlucky. And I think AJ needs to be there somehow to support max for perhaps less than 10 minutes a quarter.

If we are within last weeks difference we will have gone just OK. Given freo are better than the scum.

Omac what a player to support after his problems he has made it back. His brother should be proud and play a blinder, just to show Tom is Best.

I'm personally confused why he was dropped in the first place. This is why I have my gripe on Goodwin.

We all know he's been in a rut the last few weeks but I thought last week he finally showed some form and was able to hit the scoreboard.. like a good forward does.

Goodwin said in his presser the other week that he wanted to see some improvement from a defensive aspect from Fritsch game and yet he went out and laid 5 tackles against the Bombers.

Meanwhile Tom Sparrow for instance stays in the team after he was getting soundly beaten by Merrett in the first quarter so they dropped the tag and barely touched the ball for the rest of the night.

I'm sure Bayley and his family would be just as confused as some of us are.

Well in terms of preferences, I want our t-bone medium rare and their porterhouse on the burnt side.

tbh, I prefer Fritsch played a full game at Casey to gain a bit of confidence and show form. Very difficult to earn a spot back in half game.

As to your question: who knows with selections! It looks random to me with the fwds being a revolving door without apparent rhyme nor reason. Fritsch has his best two weeks in a while and gets dropped! Go figure!

btw, I didn't like the heat put on him for the babe-in-arms gesture after his goal last week. I loved it; a nice touch to honour his little one. It is no different than a player kissing their black arm band or pointing to the sky after a goal to honour someone who has passed away.

Yeah letโ€™s go with โ€œconfusedโ€ coz were I to quote them the profanity filter on here would blow up.

Starting to think Greg Stafford was made a scapegoat. Our forward craft was much better with him in charge despite well known deficiencies but now our forward line has been confirmed as being populated with donkeys.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, weโ€™ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

In the aftermath, I penned the following words: โ€œThen came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.โ€ Today, weโ€™re back in the same place although oneย difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, โ€œIt was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, โ€ฆโ€ย  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
