Van Rooyen just hasn’t looked like taking a mark tonight.

He should have been dropped.

Sparrow also needs a lashing more than the likes of Fritsch imo. Fritsch at least still presents even though his intensity and second efforts should be better in the contest.

When was Sparrow’s last competent match? 5 possessions, 2 tackles for someone who is usually in the team for pressure is [censored] poor.

Why would our pressure rating be so low in the final qtr with a game to be won??

What is Salem these days he can't defend and doesn't attack from half back. He is symbolic of the fall of our team

He's done a great job on kako

Goodwin resign now mate. You’ve lost the team completely

Actually doing the kid a disservice not dropping him. It's really poor coaching.

Fitness. Half the side looks overweight. I suspect Selwyn holds them back more than he should. He's not really a high performance fitness coach.

This is just not good enough. "Hope along the highway", yeah right. Where was that hope tonight other than 15 minutes in the third quarter. I've been quite positive about the club in the past but I honestly think Goodwin has to step down. Is he coaching to be sacked?

When Max is playing uninspired and mentally checked out, that is very damning for Goodwin. Seems like the Captain doesn't have his back anymore.

Fitness. they look unfit, spent all summer hugging each other.

I completely agree. It was worth giving TF a go. He couldn't have been worse than this.

what is with our players having zero awareness of where the man on the mark is???

Stop banging on about replicating the third quarter, the bombers had a big lead and could afford to take their foot off the gas

played his 100th, now needs to go back to the vfl

such a disappointment

He’s certainly gone nowhere since 2021. Was bullish on him over Jordon and Bedford as he’s a better build but just hasn't done anything since flag.

I tnink some tough decisions are needed

Including with the captain, on being the captain

Unfortunately we don't have anyone that looks like taking that position

Bombers have racked up the second highest disposal count of any than this year. Well done lads 🤬

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
