I also know we're meeting with Flanders again today for our second meeting so with a bit of luck we blow him away and he nominates the Dees as well.

Clarry doesn’t love the club enough to evolve his role within the team, it seems.

U are kidding!?? One of the best extractors of the footy EVER and the club are trying to make him Into Rudolf Nureyev!! Give me a break!!

Although not a done deal but looking highly likely now, if Trac does leave then I’m tipping these Tom Morris exclusive stories about anything Melbourne will dry right up.

Yeah well with Clarry gone, my favourite player since Rob Flower, my membership is finished.. Period! At least Demonland won't have to put up with me either!

You follow a Club …you love some players more than others ..players come & go but the Club is always there & there is no Club without supporters. I might disagree ..get disappointed but I’ll always pay my membership because quite simply the MFC is a part of my life …

If I was a betting woman, I reckon Clarry ends up at Sydney or he stays put.

Sydney with Goody and away from the fishbowl of the media would work best for him.

I know most fans don’t care what happens to players once they leave, but I care deeply that whatever move Clarry makes, supports his overall wellbeing. It’s more important than footy.

Poor Goodwin, like being dumped by your partner and moving to a new home for a fresh start, only to find your teenage brat already has a key.

Don't think it's that complex. Hardwick is looking at the age profile of his team and knows he needs more senior players. To get one who could also play the Dustin Martin role in his new team makes complete sense. They have so much young talent around that they know they will have to lose a bit of it here or there.

The only thing that will make the suns more marketable is competing for flags.

Whoa, Petracca is a great player and his 2021-2023 rivals Martin, but Martin 'does it himself' in ways that Petracca lacks the mobility and skills to do. Trac is a powerful component of a unit, while Martin actively changes the scenario and allows multiple other players to be 'good ordinary' role players. Martin is more like a 200% Melksham.

That said, at his best 2021-2023, Trac's contribution was as effective for the team as Martin's was for Richmond, and plugging even post-spleen Petracca into a midifeld with Anderson, Rowell and Touk Miller is an awful prospect for all opponents.

It is just as well Gold Coast will have their depth thinned a little since both Flanders and Humphrey are obviously coming to us. (wink wink oink oink)

Well that's fine. Trac can go to the gc. See how he copes with a coach like dimma.

He'll thrive I reckon. Rowell, Anderson, Petracca, Miller. Suns pushing for the flag.

I didn't say Petracca was as good as Martin. I said they fill the same role. Which you appear to agree with?

Morris just said that St Kilda gets Flanders and we get pick 7

I’ve done this bluff before but if all we get for trac is pick 7 (11 after academy bids and WC Allen compensation) I genuinely can’t justify my membership price for next season

Pretty ordinary of you PF, you call for changes and the club to get better, well, here you go and now youre off.

Unbelievable.

Clarry going is akin to Barrassi leaving Melbourne, ask anyone of that time how they felt! It was like a death in the family!

There go my plans for a productive workday. I'm turning off my work notification now.

Trac nominating Suns is massive for us

Flanders is a minimum. We must sign him. Hopefully we can nab Humphreys as well. If we manage that we've had a superb trade period.

And if we can go to the draft with at least one high pick i'd back JT to pick out a quality player.

I'm feeling very positive right now

If we get Humphrey Flanders and draft a small forward like Dovaston or L pickett I’m running through a brick wall.

I don’t care if we have to sell a future first pick or two.

Strangely... I'm that old. I know.

It's ok Picket... you'll get over it

Flanders to us is not over yet surely

Why are people excited?

It's basically pick 10-11.

We won't get Humphrey.

You all know what we are going to get outa shifting Clarry, and Tracc dont you.....The remnants of a chocolate Teddy Bear biscuit after being dunked in a hot coffee!

We have said no trade unless we get wowed by an offer. Morris says pick 6.

Not much wow there.

Best possible outcome. They have plenty of young players and some picks and we don't have to watch Trac play for a Vic team

Jed Walter or Humphries needs to be involved in the trade for me. Plus Flanders.

A lot I know but Suns should pay overs for a contracted marquee player to lift their dare I say it... Brand?

The AFL will make this happen

Morris reads chips packets and reports as facts !! He's a nong... a useful nong to some. Some might say a tool.... used by others 😉

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
