My point still stands and I’ve said it numerous times. If people want to be fantasists and drive the notion that all reporting relating to the MFC is filled with falsehoods, mistruths and fictional narratives, that’s on them. It isn’t reality and the end of the day, the media do not just ‘make up stories’. That’s not to say that everything happens as expected via reports, but that is the end game when you’re dealing with real-time information.

I also think a massive issue is that a significant number of people who consume media in general, are not able to deduce the difference between an opinion and a fact. Media literacy in Australia is appalling, but you see it multiple times on here when a journalist/AFL media personality delivers an opinion and people treat this a statement of fact. They are not the same thing at all.

I don't think all reporting about the MFC is made up.

I just take issue with the idea that AFL journalists have any integrity whatsoever.

I think these leaks speak volumes for Guerra's (in)ability to run a tight ship. Compare this with PJ and it's not even a competition.

If this is true and we're trading Trac, Clarry, May and McVee, it's completely at odds with the messaging from both Guerra and King about finals next year or the year after.

I'm giving the club the benefit of the doubt. Hierra and Lamb have both said don't pay any attention to the media, watch our socials. So like @Jaded No More , I'm expecting confirmation one way or other today regarding our true intentions with Clarry.

Don't really see the comparison. Neeld came to a young team filled with outside runners and flankers and tried to turn them into Collingwood lite. It was a square peg in a round hole.

King is in rebuild mode and being given the chance to get clean air.

Disposals: 25.5 (above afl average)

Kicks: 10.8 (above afl average)

Handballs: 14.7 (elite according to afl metric)

marks: 2.9 (below afl average)

tackles: 5.4 (well above afl average)

clearance: 5.5 (well above afl average)

I know that these stats in a vacuum are not entirely indicative but assertions that clayton isnt giving us any output or doesnt have value are just ridiculous.

You can have as many smooth movers transitioning the ball fast on the outside, but you still need one or two guys to go and win a hard ball in and under. Winning the ball at contest is still what gives you the edge in big games and finals.

Letting clayton go would take the cake in diabolically bad MFC list decisions.

Hoping this is just media beat up.

Agree. What we are witnessing right now is a clear indication of just how inept and dysfunctional our club has been for the past few years.

It's embarrassing and everyone involved from previous coach, board, entitled players and anyone who turned a blind eye to the unfolding mess should be ashamed.

2021 doesn't seem that long ago but the failures of our club since then are extraordinary.

Bring out the broom and start again.

The midfield was slammed every week this season for been too slow. Our kicking from Clarry and Petracca highest paid duo, was rubbish. I applaud King if he brings speed and skill to the midfield.

This is a warning to the club against doing any monster-long contracts with players

Can you imagine how we would melt down if, after two more years on the bottom, Kossie decides he wants to leave? That is not unforseeable
