As my username suggests, I would be very unhappy to see Clarry go. He has been working his way back into form and all the posters who say, let him go: I hope they are happy when they watch him next year in the top three of the AFLCA award. I just pray that it is with us.

Lot of criticism of Tracc too. Oddly enough, McRae in his presser was pretty clear that he thought Tracc (and Gawn) played very well. He might know.

From Melbourne’s perspective it’s very clear. He’s one of the best paid Players in the league yet playing at round 200th best according to rankings

He doesn’t suit the way the game is heading and for the money we’re paying him we can replace him a lot easier (Rivers already showed what a gun he is there last night) and we’re still stuck with Viney for the inside bull role

So if we can move him on and get that salary off our books we could solve problems elsewhere

Clarry loves the club, just needs a fresh start

I doubt we’ll find a suitor to take on his sort of cash so hopefully the new coach can turn him around if not

His game last night has been building. I suggest that was his biggest impact for 2025 in a hot game played in a way that future footy likely is. The question should be if he played like that next year would you be happy to pay him the $$$. It needs to be considered how much are you really saving if we move him on as well as what is the potential cultural impact is he stays or goes. Based on last night unless he wants out or he is culturally an issue I would be backing him in. I would much prefer us to move on Trac for the return and less likelihood of his impact moving forward or for us to have some hard truth conversations with VIney and Lever who the game has gone passed.

This devaluing of JV mystifies me. Yes, he is a poor kick. BUT - and it is a big but - he is a tackle monster; he keeps his opponents honest (euphemism for nervous) and is a true heart and souler. He never gives up. His endeavour is inspirational.

I remember a few years ago probably the same people wanted Tmac and Milkshake gone. Yes both are very close to the end but they have held the backline and forwarding together this year. Viney is going nowhere.

The idea that someone will have a good season because their coach was their childhood hero is laughable. The players loved Goody and yet they struggled for consistency for 2 years. It means little.

So in summary he tries hard. Unfortunately the game has gone passed him having a consistent positive impact in the middle of the ground. For all his hard work he is the break in alot of our offensive plays and he gets lost in defensive transition. He needs to be retooled as a pressure half forward who comes up to the stoppage and takes an occasional CBA. He also should not be guaranteed a game going into 2026.

No coincidence our midfield looked at its absolute best against the likes of Brisbane and Sydney when Viney wasn't playing.

He's not in my best 22 next year and he should be depth at best unless he can reinvent himself as a small forward but even then as a slow small, hed get exposed big time on speed on the turnover.
