I'm not going to lie, I was expecting a 5'8 5'9 small kinda player. Guys a man mountain.

Same here, and 72kg’s. I think I was basing this assumption from his ‘headshot’ only. I didn’t realise he was such a sexy beast of a man.

It’s hard to pump the brakes DeeSpencer when this kid comes in late and shows so much on debut and pulls on his jumper and waves to his Demon family after taking a brilliant mark and kicking truely. Agree with LITD, he was recovering from an ACL at Wet Toast. Poor player management .

He took a nice contested mark with a free run and jump at it against who knows and who cares from the Eagles, one other nice goal and otherwise had 13 touches that were largely unremarkable.

If he doesn't show more over the next 3 weeks we shouldn't be seduced by this nice story and delist him too.

Poor list management is adding Culley and costing ourselves a mid season draft pick slot. We could've had Archie May who looks a genuine key forward talent.

Big bodied mid/winger, not overly quick but good game sense, brave, takes a big mark - Angus Brayshaw anyone?

I will be fascinated to see how he fares (presumably) the next 3 weeks against finalists and contenders.

Very pleased with what he did in his debut for us.

It will also be interesting to see which role he fits into going forward b

There will never be another Gus. Hopefully Jai matures into a very handy player and finds his own style and effectiveness. He looks OK out there

Jai could play the next three games at an ordinary level and he still wouldn’t be delisted. You know this. Therefore you’re trolling.

I'd suggest there seems to be some positivity towards him from the footy club but a mature age pick up who took all year to crack a senior game doesn't seem like an automatic re-sign based on one solid AFL game.

I have no idea what the club is really thinking with Culley or AMW, Spargo, Henderson, Woey, Kynan Brown, Sestan and Verrall or Tommy Campbell for that matter.

The only thing Culley has shown that those guys haven't is beating up on a hapless West Coast team

Some people just don't like the reality bus. In a few weeks they'll be wondering why it moves faster that Culley

You said if he doesn’t show more in the next three weeks he should be delisted. I’m saying you know full well that won’t happen, so why say it?

You don’t know if Jai will make it. I don’t know if Jai will make it. The difference is I’d sooner err on the side of positivity. You should try it.

Don’t you mean they MIGHT be wondering? Sounds as though you’ve written him off already.

Look pal, it’s been a rough season and whether it was one good game or 200 more, it was just nice to see a kid who grew up supporting the Demons, now playing for them and showing some passion for the jumper towards his Mum. Stop being such a Negative Nelly.

Ditto and to add to his 194cm he has a great leap

Didn't know he was so tall either.

194cm wow!!

What I liked was his balance and agility IN THE AIR much like Fritta who can twist and adapt to the flight of the ball mid-air. This is natural ability and earial grace, and then with good thoughtful development from football department is a worthy prospect. Kicked straight to goal and teamates!!.no butterflies...Cool clean, customer..

Somebody said outshone Kolt,..have to agree !!

I'm thinking Wing to Half forward

Needs to play next three.

Lets see!!

I like him!!!

You're indeed flop certified.

Max was saying on mmm yesterday morning a wc player said to him on the field, how come its taken you so long to play him, max replied with I can't believed you desisted him.

people are pencilling him in for 200 games and the 2030 brownlow, we beat up on a west coast side that is the worst ever. he could easily avg 9 touches and no goals over the next 3 weeks.

he has played 12 casey games for 17.7 touches, 3.8 tackles and a total of 4.10 on the scoreboard, no one was asking for his selection for the first 10 weeks he played and with reason, he wasnt impacting, lets just slow down shall we, he deserves to hold his spot this week of course and maybe a 12 month extension is fair if theres enough moving parts elsewhere but lets see what he does next before we get any more carried away

Fair enough post. His last three or so games at Casey showed a strong uptrend though admittedly against middling opposition.

Next season he and MacAdam will probably be vying for the same spot. Hopefully one of the two grabs it and makes it their own.

Aka Schache, Billings etc

JC... if he makes it we can nickname him "Super Star"

He's a big strong lad is Jai Culley.

Was very pleased with his first game for his beloved Demons! 🔴🔵👹

Looking forward to seeing how he goes in the remaining 3 weeks of the season.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.

The Demons return to town fresh off a thumping win over the back-to-back wooden spooners, the West Coast Eagles, played in front of a sparse crowd at Marvel Stadium, the same venue that hosted last week's heartbreaking loss.
