Bizzell's Back

NO MERGER

After the last couple of games, thought it was worth mentioning the great efforts of Clint Bizzell. He has been outstanding these last couple of weeks.

Anyone else think he's a welcome return to the team down back? Felt sorry for him taking a shot at goal today....although he went down back and did a superb job.

Well done Bizz. ;)

is there a spot for him down back though, when rivers, whelan and bartram are all in the team, considering that wheatley and bell have seemed to cement a spot, along with carroll and holland (for the rocca's and tredders of this world)?

plaed well today, he picks the ball up lceanly in contested situations to drive it forwad

very work-man like, got a lot of time for him...

Bizzell played a great game today.

Along with Holland he was the best defender.

Not only were his disposal, judgment and on-field directions good he did well on on two different sized / style of players in Medhurst and Cloke when on them.

I don't think Holland will play much (as you said, he's there for particular match-ups).

I'd also prefer Wheatley play along the wing, so there's not necessarily direct competition there if Wheatley gets to play a more attacking role.

I think there's probably a spot for him providing he plays good footy.

How much better did we look with Wheatley taking the kick-ins today instead of Trav? It was like I was watching a different team today the way we brought it in after behinds.

It helped that Collingwood pretty much let us run our dual-huddle plan without sending some outriders to either side of the first huddle. It was far too easy for one of our players to break from the huddle and once they did they just kept going and the ball was put out in front of them - no hope for their opponent.

Watching other games this year oppositions teams tend to sit guys outside the huddle to prevent those early breaks, but Collingwood didn't do this.

His kicking in is fantastic, I don't know how some of you were bagging him

What made you feel sorry for him?

Bizz was terrific yesterdat, really enjoyed his efforts the last couple of weeks. I flinched for him when that maggot Holland nearly killed him at CHB considering his previous injuries.

Slightly off topic but I think our back 6 are flying at the minute. Wheats has been a welcome return with his kicking be a real bonus but I think his preparedness to run and take the game on has been fantastic. He got caught once in the middle of the ground yesterday but he is playing with confidence at the moment and taking the game on at every oppurtunity as a player with pace and a thumping boot should do.

On top of that Daniel Bell has definitely taken the next step. I think I actually heard the penny drop when he was checking Scott Welsh last week and he confirmed that belief for me yesterday getting the better of Collingwoods best player.

bizz did well today. i thought a couple of his kicks didnt hit targets but im not complaining, however im still unsure if there is a spot for him and rivers in the same team. if they do play in the same team i think frawley will have to miss out and personally id rather see frawley getting a go.

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
