There’s only one way to drive a Ferrari.

Sorry Roost it but only a git with more money than brains would pay nearly $2m to solely drive a Ferrari fast and in a straight line.

I’d pay $2m to drive it fast on all roads, unfortunately my driving skills far outweigh my financial skills so I’ll settle for driving at the limit in my old Toyota.

Fair call, I partially stand corrected.

Ang is a philosophy based coach and won't apologise for it. It can take a while to implement and it was great that they did well last season so he could continue with it but in reality it probably needs two full seasons and some more signings.

He was pretty devastated in his presser after the Liverpool game this morning, I really hope they can win some games soon because I really would like to see him get some long term success there.

I know they're missing players but they're a complete mess at the back. I think it's poor coaching.

My expectations are not unreasonable I would have thought:

  1. A president and CEO that do not operate in a parallel universe
  2. A game style that results in more goals than behinds in finals
  3. A recruiting regime that can find more that one competent big forward in 10 years.

The other day I got rid of some unwanted stuff (tip; evaporative coolers do sweet f-a when you don't have the option of also ventilating the space) at Cash Converters and was Christian Petracca there? NO! I get that it was a couple of days before his wedding, but he'll still be married tomorrow while it could be years before I drop in to Cash Converters again.

We'll never make finals with this attitude.

Another interesting thing about ange in terms of intersections with AFL is the coverage of his game style over there in terms of the gap between reality and perception.

That's well captured in this quote from the article linked below:

'It is instructive that only coaches who have a clearly defined and recognisable style seem to have that style blamed for every single shortcoming, even if the logic doesn’t always hold up to scrutiny.

Postecoglou’s football is, indeed, serving a secondary purpose: it is exposing just how much of modern football discourse is based on tired old tropes, flimsy premises and Colbert-style truthiness.

It feels right to say United’s second-half surge was because Postecoglou is stubborn and didn’t tell his players to “get hold of that game”, even though it only happened because of freak individual errors that had nothing to do with anything else.

It feels right to criticise Spurs for being “too open” and “chaotic”, even if their stats show they are one of the Premier League’s best defensive teams, and that they’ve not lost a single game this season by more than a one-goal margin.'

No plan B - go to every other clubs AFL footy forum site and they all say the same thing. Their coach has no plan B

Indeed.

I'll bet London to a brick that if the hawks stumble this year Mitchell's adherence to hok ball will be questioned and questions asked about no plan b.

I have unrealistic expectations at the *beginning of every season, but I think what’s important is how one deals with those expectations not being met. Personally I remind myself that our team’s fortunes are not something in my control. It also helps to blindly adore our players and coaches 😁

*this is why the Season Launch is by far and away *THE BEST function on the calendar. Clean slate, fresh start, etc. Everyone is full of hope and confidence for a successful season. If you can get yourself there it’s well worth the effort and $

*except for last year’s Season Launch but only because it was held on the same day Gussy’s forced retirement was announced publicly. 😢

I’d much prefer start the season optimistically with the hope of a flag, than be a sad sack all season!
I even had hope 1st season with Neeld, it only lasted to round one!! Apologies I realise mentioning that name may put some supporters needing therapy again!

It's almost 2025 Binny. We are blowing up what should have been a minimum of two flags. The psychopaths have been running amuck for years. Throwing up a premiership that happened over three years ago is wallpapering over the cracks of chronic dysfunction that has engulfed the club since the flag. I continue to assert that my expectations are not unreasonable.

I think it’s a realistic expectation to at least win a final. Surely that’s not too much to ask for.

Exactly, making a Prelim was a par the last 3 seasons and we failed to reach those expectations.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
