So he has gone from "maybe he'll play, we'll see if we can manage it" to "maybe we should seek the opinion of an expert".

The expert says he needs surgery, so he'll be out for 8 weeks.

What in the actual F is our 'medical' team doing?

the same ones that sent christian back out last year, this lot need to go aswell

He was apparently a test last week and he didn't train at all. I still have an immense amount of respect for Simon Goodwin, due to the premiership and 2018 in particular, but his answers in press conferences are really frustrating. This isn't the first time he hasn't told the truth about someone's injuries.

Sorry today is April 1st yeh?

This is the team giving up, may as well let him have 8 weeks rest, instead of bringing him back which they have said he was nearly there for two weeks. Goodwin has thrown in the towel.

When this bloke was at the Lions, their list was more injured than fit every season. A couple of years later, and they’re the fittest and healthiest team in the league aside from ACLs.

A classic MFC, foot-shooting appointment.

That is not really fair, to call the Coach a liar over Lever's injury..

Goody could have been told he was hopefully right to go.

Lever could have still had discomfort and it was decided he couldn't push through it, or it would be a problem continually, or he needed surgery to fully get rid of the issue, or a number of other scenarios.

I hope we see Adams in the next 8 weeks.

With injury comes opportunity for others.

If the Lions' list was more injured than fit every season (which apart from being a hyperbole is demonstrably untrue), then that would be the responsibility of their High Performance Manager, Damien Austin. Who has been there for 10 years, including for their premiership.

Yeah so after Thursday’s main session before the Suns game, the club was parading how Lever was going to team up with May etc - then he’s a late out.

Then the club was saying he should be right to go for the following week - then he’s a test, which he fails to come up so he misses again.

You just knew something wasn’t right when Goody was asked the question about Lever being ready for gather round…

How the hell did it escalate so damn bad? Smh

This blokes body’s just about cooked I reckon.

I hope to god he never tells the truth about our injuries. The last thing we - or our opposition - need to hear is who's carrying what injury etc. etc.

Time to move Disco back to see if he can make it as a Lever type interceptor.

He's not a forward at AFL level.

Ugh having no lever for 8 weeks sucks.

That will leave petty in.

Can we re-draft tomlinson?

There was precisely no upside in delisting Tomlinson. All it did was compromise our depth given Marty Hore is forever injured.

Don’t mind that. And get Petty the heck away from our defence.

I’d give Petty a role up forward given he’s the only player that can take a contested mark aside from May and Gawn.

No it isn't it's an injury to one key player.

I don't believe many would 'throw in the towel' at this level unless they know they're on the way out either in a retirement sense (on the cusp) or to another club.

Do some occasionally get overly happy with their lot and possibly aren't giving it their very best 98% of the time etc? Absolutely

Ankles are pesky beasts though.

Speaking of old mate Tommo, think it was reported that collingwood are eyeing him up for the mid-season draft as a replacement for Reef McInnes

Injury List: Round 6

Matt Jefferson — hand / available

Judd McVee — hamstring / available

Tom Campbell — hamstring / test

Steven May — foot / test

Marty Hore — calf / 4 - 5 weeks

Jake Lever — ankle / 7 - 8 weeks

Shane McAdam — Achilles / next season

Andy Moniz-Wakefield — knee / next season

Plus mystery injury of the week nominee - Kysaiah Pickett

McVee and Jeffo available - but no VFL games.

Tholstrup not listed, so presume he's available as well.

Edit: My mistake, there are VFL games for Casey. Thanks to Distraction Jackson for calling me out.

Ah yes, my mistake.

I'd delete my post, but not possible on Demonland. Will have to settle for being publicly shamed for my ignorance.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

  • REPORT: Richmond

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
