May and Lever the last players to fit that category..both had given several more years to their respective clubs. Would love to hear other examples

Wow, so much outrage for a guy who even if he played all 23 games wouldn't have finished top 10 or top 15 in our BnF this year.

Let him go to Freo. I would be surprised if he starts in their 22 by round 1. He's not a dashing half back, his decision making is too slow as a midfielder, and as a small defender I've seen him be toweled up by Rankine and Higgins far too many times

See ya Judd.

9th in our B+F year 1. 7th last year.

Beaten by a couple of good players when our backline leaked like a sieve.

If you donโ€™t think this is a terrible result for the footy club youโ€™re kidding yourself.

Well you are obviously a person of good musical taste! I hope itโ€™s the same set he played last year at Brutal Assault. It was killer!

Not really. None of those guys are lockdown defenders. Judd had the ability to win 1v1s and then slingshot. Bowey and Salem maybe, but it'd be nice to have the option of playing Bowey or Salem at half forward. That's much harder now.

Howes is 100% a lockdown def, as is Salem. Salem's 1v1 work is very, very good. But pace obviously an issue.

I like the idea of Salem going deeper in def and putting Lindsey one the HBF where he played a lot int the TAC cup.

It is a position we can cover the easiest on our list, besides inside Mids.

all good @Ghostwriter you could not have known. If he was going he was never going to admit it - even to you. I know I wouldnโ€™t. I mean whatโ€™s to gain.

The bloke is the type of player you donโ€™t want around the clubโ€ฆ heโ€™ll always have one eye out the door. better now than in 3-4 years time. We should push hard for pick 11 but unlikely unless we return our 2nd rounder or F2 l. we should otherwise be asking for their 2nd and F2 as Juddy isnโ€™t a first rounder.

The collective naivety on this site is super cute. โ˜บ๏ธ

I have no issue with the messaging from the Judd camp, and other areaโ€™s, being that re would re-sign on two years.

But the faux moral outrage that he โ€˜liedโ€™ to a supporter is bizarre.

Langdon the last good player we took from someone that actually wanted them.

5 years now of being nothing but a farm team for the league to take the likes of Bedford and JJ and now a really classy player that we couldnโ€™t afford to lose.

Essendon fans were very upset about losing Hibbo as well

Yeah, just like there was no outrage when Houston came out and said heโ€™d be playing at Port. At that point it looked like it he was destined for us and posters on here found that statement hilarious.

Swings and roundabouts.

Donโ€™t care that he lied to a fan. Itโ€™s poor but it happens.

Care that he lied to the club for months and that his manager wasted our time and got the club to redraw contracts several times as his demands changed.

And then lied about waiting for a new coach.

We should send the McVee compo to the Pies for Houston, they may even pay half his wage

4D chess!

they only have themselves (even though they blamed Hird) to blame for Hibbo and Melk coming to us. And I love it!!

What can we realistically expect in return for the trade? I donโ€™t want [censored] picks. Make them give up a player and some picks.

He wants to be a running half back?

We need a couple of those FFS!

Best case is probs 2nd round + F2 for McVee + 3rd rounder I reckon

Next year is projecting to be a heap better than this year. Pick 29 may as well be pick 55 this year. If we can do a deal for 11, would much rather a future 2nd.

If Freo are poaching him, they need to pay up. Itโ€™s on them to get the deal done.

Still a very compromised top end draft again. Unfortunately, the "they need to pay up" mentality from supporters isn't how it actually works, even though I wish it was!

Mcvee and the spargo compo for pick 11?

If we could cover it why didnโ€™t Judd play back flank when he came back in to the side?

Maybe 5 years ago Salem sure, but itโ€™s clear as day he wouldnโ€™t have the pace. Maybe if Willie Rioli unretires and doubles the keg he might be able to catch him.

Howes is seen as a lock down defender because he canโ€™t do stuff all else at afl level. But any small forward with any smarts is running rings around him. At Casey heโ€™s an intercepting and rebounding half back which is where he should play at AFL level but the game is too fast for him.

I said last year go and get a lock down back so Judd doesnโ€™t have to do it. But no, Timmy Mutton Lamb and co stick with Marty Hore. This is the result.

Tell Freo itโ€™s pick 11 for Judd or heโ€™s off to the draft

God I hate Freo!

ย

Send him to the Eagles, he will have plenty of mates with limited ability.

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didnโ€™t just beat Gold Coast โ€” they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #29 Tom Campbell

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lionsโ€™ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

Worked his way back after a slow start and a further slump in form going into the midseason but became a solid contributor for the club in the latter half of 2025. Closing in on 300 goals for the club.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Letโ€™s be honest, last weekโ€™s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper โ€” second versus seventeenth โ€” football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
