Normally I would agree but they look like a genuine contender next year - on paper at least. Guns everywhere

I have heard this said many times during preseason, so far…..

St Kilda and Essendon are the pre season specialists. Every commentator talks about how they are ready to explode…. Very rarely happens

Dont doubt the appeal of WA. I was amazed by the potential over there and have been saying to get your kids qualified and send them over there where there is a shortage of every trade and skill. The place is run by a small number of uber rich using backpacker and flyin fly out labour.

Get Judd to Uni get him qualified and able to invest in the most exciting future environment  locations in the world.

It’s a good place for trades or if you want to work in mining, but limited other than that.

Relax y’all… I had an awesome chat with Judd’s girlfriend Lily at last night’s B&F about a range of things (hair and nails and makeup. You know, the important things) and there’s “absolutely no way he’s going back to WA.” Judd came over and we stopped talking but he guessed what we’d been discussing and he confirmed that he’s not interested at all in returning to WA.

I would hope that's the case but Judd and his partner aren't going to tell supporters anything other than he's staying, regardless of his actual intentions

Used to be the cap state, but that's been usurped by the Sunshine coast. Even though now environment means a lot.

I didn’t bring up the subject of him going or staying, he did.

You don't have to justify yourself. Thanks again for the great insights, which I'm sure the vast majority of us here really appreciate.

This kind of response comes up all the time here, and it's such a weak, flawed argument - not to mention, confirmation bias.

Delusional

This is true. I can hardly post an entire 20-minute conversation verbatim, but I wanna share the general vibe which in this case was great. This kind of response is exactly what happened when I had a very similar conversation with Kozzie’s partner, and that situation’s turned out fine.

And we are lovers of the " general vibe" here on DL.

I agree.  Whether the young ones are telling half truths or not. It still feels good,  hope they always tell the truth,

Of course, if there comes the patter of even smaller feet, things might change ,  150 more games, couple of GF medals,  go with my blessings if I can still give them in 5 or 6 years .

Agreed. Absolutely no need for this. If you disagree with what someone is saying just ignore it 🤯

I'm staggered that anybody could possibly argue with this.

@Ghostwriteryour insight is appreciated. But chats like this should of course be taken with a grain of salt. If he is thinking of leaving (not saying he is!) of course he's not going to tell supporters that!

If you have an ounce of sense, you know to take this with a grain of salt. What isn't necessary is sniping at people simply providing information.

I never preface a report of a conversation with “He/she may not be telling me the truth but he/she said…” because I assume everyone already knows there’s a possibility that he/she isn’t telling the truth.

In this instance Judd brought the subject up which leads me to believe he was 100% sincere, but as @bing181 said, I shouldn’t have to justify myself.

edit: a former poster put up with this ‘til she couldn’t any longer. I don’t want a repeat of this.

There’s also the possibility that Judd may be telling the truth…………

If a player says one thing it must be the other 🤦

I really rate this kid as a high quality role player in the back half.  Can lock down well whilst showing he has excellent rebounding skills with his sharp pace, good decision making and efficient kicking.

Not a fan of seeing him in the midfield.  Don't mind they gave it a crack late in the year with nothing to lose to see how he'd go, but he's far more valuable as an asset down back.

I'd be amazed if West Coast and Fremantle weren't fair dinkum having a crack at this kid.  That's just the price you pay for having good players at your club.

Just like I'd be amazed if we weren't continually talking to every Victorian kid with talent who plays in SA, NSW, QLD or WA.

I'm not a believer of him being a future All-Australian or anything like that - primarily as he's a defender who defends instead of zoning off getting 25 touches - but there is no reason he won't be a 200-250 gamer for the club and finish multiple Melbourne B&Fs in the top 10.

I can't see a single example of anyone sniping at @Ghostwriter on this thread though. Sniping and discussing are two completely different things!

Luke Jackson the day after draft night with his new mfc jumper on having a break from talking to media at docklands said to me he has been to melb with sports rep sides many times and loved it and he knew he would likely leave WA anyway and was very happy

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

  • POSTGAME: Hawthorn

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
