Reading between the lines in threads like this, I completely understand why we ended 2025, a year that held significant promise, with only seven wins. I look forward to entering next year with everyone aligned and committed.

Just like Demonland! 🥳

Who gives a stuff that he lied to the odd nuffie ?

I'm only annoyed that he shows no semblance of loyalty or class to the club that gave him a lifeline and an opportunity at AFL level when otherwise he may still be running around somewhere insignificant.

No clue how he is still managing to get air time in this forum. He's gone. He can go stink it up in the worst looking jumper in the league.

think it’s fair to post in here given losing judd has now made us lose lily?

It’s now official that Eden Zanker, one of our top five players, gun forward, goal-kicker, big-bodied pack-crasher is off to Freo and it immediately gets posted in a Farewell to Judd McVee thread? Because Lily is part of the deal and she’s dating an ex-MFC player? Yeah nah

Edo deserves way more respect than that.

I do.

The “odd nuffie” as you put it has committed so much time, energy and care to this club whilst the majority, like me, sit on the outside second guessing everything MFC do with no skin in the game.

I only see bits of the commitment to banner making, sausage sizzle set up and selling, booking of plane tickets to allow “the nuffie” to see interstate games and game day participation in the cheer squad sitting behind the goals where you basically see nothing much of the game only to have to then clean up and store all the stuff we see behind the goals when we score.

But I do see her interaction with the players and staff at training and they love “the nuffie”. And whilst we are annoyed at the way Judd treated us the players and staff would be annoyed at the way he treated the nuffie because he took someone who the really like for a ride when he didn’t need to.

So yeh, I care because this odd nuffie is like the dedicated volunteer who supports the club in a way very few do and deserved so much better.

I won't bare a grudge nor abuse past players, but the new nickname Spud McVee is too aesthetically pleasing to pass up. Just Rolls off the tongue! And it's a lot better than 'Chris'

Still prefer Judas McVee

You're incredibly noble, Tim. This almost brought a tear to my eye.

But I don't quite share your ''take''.

Admittedly, a football workplace is different, and, admittedly, I'm not a people person (according to my wife), but I would find it astonishingly annoying to find ''fans'' engaging with me as I entered my work place. However, I'm sure some players love the adoration...

There's also an insinuation that questions about the contract were never asked. Or that Judd ''didn't need to'', according to you. I find this hard to believe. Imagine feeling the need to say you're not going anywhere when you're supposedly not asked whether you're indeed going anywhere ? ''Hi Slarti, how are you ?" "Yeah, accountancy is great. I'm not leaving the firm, by the way''. Do you think it sounds realistic that you'd announce your future when you're not asked, or have never been asled by the individual in question ?

You say, ''They love the nuffie'' ? Some may and others may tolerate them. Some may try to hide their dislike. It's hard to know.

Personally, if I was a volunteer who gave my all for the club I'd expect nothing in return. That's why you're a ''volunteer''. It's your passion. You're doing it because you love to do it and get as close to the action as you're allowed.

If a player said to me, "I'm not going anywhere''. I'd hope I'd say, ''That's your business and none of mine''. ''I don't need to know''. ''You'll do what's best for you and your family''.

So ''yeh'', we have a different take on nuffies, as well as what we expect from players.

Keep well and I hope everything is okay.

Cheers

I miss Judd.

When Freo Recruit Made the Call to Leave the Dees (SEN)

“Then, in my final year in 2025 I got halfway through the year and decided to pack up and come home. … Freo presented very well to me, I saw the opportunity and thought I’d definitely take it.”

Probably been said somewhere in the 102 pages, but there wasn't daylight between how him and Jackson, mailed in their performances during their last seasons. I am mightly peeved at losing Zanker though, that burggers up our fwd line no end.

Edo will be sorely missed and not just for her skill and talent. She was a great example for our young forwards to look to and learn from. Edo’s situation is not unlike Nibbler’s in that she doesn’t wanna leave the MFC but her partner wants to go back home.

You know Slarti personally. You couldn’t have told him this privately? I know you’re entitled to your opinion and the avenue you use to express your opinion, but I think your choice to say this publicly says more about you than it does about “the nuffie.”

This player was picked from obscurity and was developed by the MFC into the player he was by a combination of hard work by the club and the player.

I have always believed that players should give the club some semblance of loyalty but we find that players just leave when they want and club gets very little compensation since a player does not stipulate the his original club get well compensated if he is to leave to the new club.

I also believe 4 years at the club is a poor return for the club for the time and effort.

It cuts both ways, because I'm partisan MFC I'm unhappy that McVee has moved, but at the same time I was all for trying to pry Windhager out of the Saints. Then there's the ruthless delisting of Brown and Woewodin, I also support this.
