Dazzle what current AFL player would you suggest he plays/projects to be like?

Great summary in the Fox Sports article. I like the comment around ball use. It’s still badly needed in our team so Sinnema would be a handy pickup imv

Plays for West Adelaide not Port..

Plays as a wingman/half back. My understanding is that he's a potential late draft pick or even rookie prospect at this stage.

Didn't make the cut for this year's South Australia under 18's squad unfortunately.

Looks like Sinnema and Prasard are playing today at 1 against Gold Coast.

Another strong performance v Suns. Sinemma had 23 possessions and stood out for the Stingrays. Suns won by 10 goals such is the footy factory being run in the coast now. Both sides were missing key players but the Suns were super impressive.

A classy midfielder, Sinnema’s athleticism and decisive decision making with the ball are features of his game. He played 17 matches for the Stingrays as a bottom-age player in the Coates Talent League last year, averaging 14 disposals including a season-high 23 touches against the Bushrangers in round 14. Sinnema also had a taste of representative football, playing for Vic Country at under-17 level against NSW-ACT and finishing as one of his side’s best players with 21 disposals in an impressive outing. He made a very promising start to 2025, averaging 19 disposals across the first three rounds for the Stingrays. He continued his form by being among Vic Country’s best players with 20 disposals in a trial match in April. Sinnema has Chinese heritage and is part of Melbourne’s Next Generation Academy.

Toby Sinnema looked okay for Stingrays v Knights on the weekend. He’s lightly framed but has good balance and skill. Looks like another suited to a wing as an outside mid.

Toby kicked a nice goal early in the 2nd quarter. Was under a defensive clearance. Marked it about 35 metre out. Very good kick that split the centre for a goal. I think he’s likely to be a pick in the 45-55 range at this stage.

We're going to be good by foot in years ahead, jeez that'll make a nice change. He and White will be solid additions to a really strong youthful side. If Petracca can become our Dangerfield and play 5-6 more years and we got Jackson for Pickett allowing Max reduced minutes we're looking pretty sweet. Now to grind out 2025. I was expecting more to be honest!

Dees will need to hold onto the elite talent and bring in the elite kicks. Not necessarily the elite talent but players who don’t give it away. Unpressed turnovers killed us v hawks on the weekend.

Youngsters like Sinnema would be handy with high quality skills but don’t expect them to be ready additions like Langford and Lindsay (they are very special).

Watched Stingrays again this week. Only saw most of the 2nd qtr and 3rd quarter. Sinnema again showed his class. See him as an outside player and he’d need to work on just getting his pace up to really burn in the AFL. He already has the kicking skills.

Noted a few other youngsters for Stingrays

Jasper Russell. Tough energetic small defender. Just kept getting the footy and rebounding outside defensive 50.

Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves. Prototype footballer. Looks about 6’2 with good pace and skill. Was used onball then forward and kicked nice goals. His kicking was good and just got to the right spots. One grab player. Probably again an outside type.

Max Lee. A running half back. I had noted him previously and good to see again had good poise with the footy and a burst of speed needed across half back. Just some AFL traits.

I find the whole nga thing a bit ridiculous. For mine bar Tassie, as a whole new club, once a player is eligible to be drafted he should join the draft and the club that he trained with should be able to outbid any other bidding teams but only if they hold a higher draft pick. The advantages to northern teams is getting a bit lopsided now.

the theory was that the northern clubs needed academies to encourage participation

the reality is that the swans - in particular - and the bears are getting both father-sons and nga picks, often from other club's potential father-son selections (see; blakey)

the likes of heeney might come from rugby league loyalty but callum mills, as an example, played junior aussie rules all the way through his childhood and was never not part of the 'system'

I’d scrap father sons as well, the club dad played for can outbid other teams but again only if they hold a higher draft pick.
