So happy Cleary is there!

Big year coming up for him

Clearly Clarrie and Cleary have clarified concerns.

People are so easily offended these days.

Why don't you do some research, he has been building a resume as a fitness/conditioning coach, obviously has impressed.

C'mon mate that's a bit harsh.  I DID do a google and didn't find a heap.  Some posters seemed to think he's a great addition and if I'm asking the question then maybe some others on here would also benefit from knowing a bit more about him.  Isn't that what Demonland is for?

Maybe start a blog to continue to teach people how to live

Don't do blogs, bit impersonal, face to face though, lifeskills, how to watch footy but not through the lens of your multi,  But all should follow my example, that way they will be better informed before making statements, although there would b a caveat on gleaning information from the modern media, only thing you learn from them is to create news rather than reporting it.

Ghostwriter Report:

Observations:

We have a new member of staff: a strength and conditioning coach named Tom Couch who’s the son of (the late) Paul Couch. Seems many thought he was Harry Sharp despite being significantly older.

Tom Campbell was on the track very early, one-on-one with a trainer. He’s “a little behind the rest of the boys” in terms of training.

Mitch Cleary received a tweet telling him Clarrie was here so he hotfooted it down. He was flustered and asked the slightly deranged regular if Clarrie was out on the field yet. She told him yeah. He said isn’t it great to see Clarrie back? She replied “Yes and even better that he’s in great spirits, he’s fit and firing and can’t wait for the season to start.”
Mitch said, “Oh, then I suppose there’s no need for me to be here” and he turned and pretended to walk back from whence he came. He laughed and said “Just kidding, just kidding!” This goes to show you even the media know the media suck.

The boys were running laps in small groups. Sesto wasn’t participating. Nothing to worry about though. It’s just that he felt something in his hammy.

On one of the drinks breaks, after a particularly strenuous drill some of the young guys were sitting on their haunches, namely Pup, Howesy, and AMW. Tommy Sparrow approached them and said, “Come on boys. Body language, remember? Get up, get up, get up!” They promptly stood up.

The young brigade are training at AAMI Park early tomorrow morning. The older guys have the weekend off. Selwyn asked Clarrie if he had plans for the weekend. Clarrie said, “Yeah I’m hittin’ the [censored] hard for two days. Yourself?” LOLS all round. Lucky Cleary wasn’t there to hear it. 🙄

Kolt’s girlfriend plays for the Hawks. He’ll be at Ikon tomorrow night and was pleased to hear that a few of us from the DA will be there to cheer on the Hawks (Loveya Westy and Casey).

Leb spent a lot of time running around the boundary. Nothing to worry about. Tom Couch has had input there, he likes to “mix it up.”

AMW was wearing #34 but only because his own jumper was ripped during training on Wednesday.

They’re training at Gosch’s on Monday morning, they leave to attend the camp in Bright the following Monday and at this stage (because of the draft next week) there won’t be any sessions for the remainder of next week.

How do I arrange to get enough storage to be able to post training pics on Demonland?

Tap your name and not the avatar, in the top right area.

A menu with attachments come up, tap that. Delete the attachments and you can post more pics.

There is limited space and when full you cannot post files.

You need to continually delete previous attachments so there is space for the next file.

Please tell ghostwriter that her reports are greatly appreciated by virtually everyone still on DL. Hope she is doing well.

For once I don't mind being included in 'virtually everyone', a breath of fresh air and informative.

No it is not. Demonland is the sacred realm where paranoia meets passion, and every preseason training update becomes a 50-page saga of hope, dread, and wild speculation. It’s where rumours run rampant, sometimes turning an off-hand comment from a boot-studder’s cousin into tomorrow’s headline. Double-speak thrives here as well, with phrases like, “They’re tracking well” secretly meaning “someone’s ankle is in six pieces.” In short, it’s where the heartbeat of the red and blue beats erratically, as any good Demon fan would have it

Masai Warrior? Some very funny stuff on the YouTube Rub channel about Mitch when Barrett had him working on media award things around 10 years ago.

Apologies, Google doesn't do it for me either, I asked some of my more knowledgeable acquaintances also.

Demonland is a haven for some to hand wring, disparage other posters and supporters, bemoan recruiting, training, coaches, administration, media team et al.

He is a fitness coach on the rise.

Hi, no, I like to follow all aspects of footy, so when I heard the "rumour" about Couch, I researched, keeps me informed about what the club is up to, same as looking at all the draft profiles of the supposed top 20 in the upcoming draft.

Helps me 'understand' the game better.

“Always find me in the kitchen at Parties….”

Have to say Clarrie doesn't look in great nick, needs to have a massive pre season. Hope he hasnt checked out.

I think the body language thing was something Darren Burgess was big on - ie never show that you're gassed in training or in a game as it gives the impression of vulnerability to the opposition. I wonder if Darren Shand has had any input yet, because this also has echoes of the All Blacks philosophy.

This will be confirmed if we do a pre game Hakka in round 1.

This! Not to mention, Petty was exactly the same. Both had horrific pre seasons. Think it’s a bit lost with HP how much he *didnt* do during the weeks leading up to the season this year.

Two extremely important players and with full preseasons for both, look out.

IIRC Petty was on a scooter at training this time last year

Gussy Brayshaw was massive on the body language stuff. We really miss him dearly in so many aspects 😢

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

It was bad enough that the Melbourne Football Club created yet another humiliating scenario inside its wretched season at Marvel Stadium last Sunday, but the final insult is that it has been commanded to return to the scene of the crime to inflict further punishment on its fans this week. Incidentally, if this match preview, of a game that promises to be one of the most unattractive fixtures in the history of the game, happens to cut out of your computer screen three quarters of the way through, it’s no coincidence. I’ll be mirroring the Demons’ lacklustre effort against St Kilda from last Sunday when they conceded the largest last quarter turnaround for victory in the history of the game.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.
