Spot on.

I see too much of Jayden Hunt in Travaglia. Which isn't a bad thing because he's carved out a solid career himself. Blazes away far too often when he gets on a run off half back and usually comes back the other way.

Smith is an absolute jet, I'm still scratching my head how he's not in top 2 discussions. If he slides to our pick and we select him, that's a steal in my eyes. Him and Langford are a win for us either way.

Glad someone else sees the same in what I see in Allan. I reckon his potential is enormous. He's got the athletic and physical profile to play round 1, but also potential to slide into the midfield in a year or two and play a similar style to Elliot Yeo.

Smith/Langford along with Allan would be a huge draft win for us.

It’s interesting comparing Travaglia to Hunt because Travaglia doesn’t have Hunt’s top end speed either. He ran a 3:19 20m sprint compared to Langford 3:24 which everyone freaked out about him being slow.

I keep going back to that interview Oliver did just before trade period.  They mentioned Patrick Cripps and Oliver's comments about him just being too big and powerful to stop have really stuck with me.  It also reminds me of something one of the St Kilda mids said about Melbourne in '20 or 21, that our players were so much more powerful, they basically ignored attempts to tackle them.  That's why I really want us to bring in Smillie.  The thought of having that midfield titan who is just overpowering for opponents is so tempting.  Someone the size of Cripps but with better speed and kicking?  Lets grab him and get him in the gym to start adding muscle.

The player you're really looking for is Bo Allan. Smilie is big, but contest isn't really his go IMV.

Pick 5 . Langford, Jagga , Lalor ( In order of availability)

Pick 9. Bo Allan

Pick 79. Suds McDuff or Derek Smalls

I'd prefer Tufnel at 79

Bo Allen @ 9

Hopefully he wins the Rising Star next year then its straight swap for Harley Reid.

They’re already eyeing another one of our talented WA kids who is out of contract at the end of 25’ 😂

Melbourne won’t want to either. Lots of talk that he’ll get offered a contract like Roo until 2029 from us. But there’s big offers from WA. Hopefully he’s locked in soon.

Hope they hurry up!

I believe we have a bit of sal cap space so should be able to match a WCE offer.  If its family bring them over from time to time and vice versa.

Pick 5 - Unlike our resident expert, Deespencer, and some others, I do like Jagga Smith.  For me his footy IQ with his positioning, as well as his reflexes, is insane.  Racking up the disposals, as he does, is incredibly underrated.  My eyes tell me he has really good initial pace, although I know our expert doesn't see it.  And I love his fast feet and sidesteps.  Remember, he's only 18.  What will good coaching and a few years of preseason weights turn him into.  Smith has innately what can't be taught and what most don't have.

Is this the same Deespencer that hasn't seen one under age game live this season???

At least they linked us to Hynes and Allan at 9… r-right?

McGowan the only who's been running with our interest on Hynes.

Doesn't get s mention anywhere else.

Very curious as Hynes to me looks very much a JT pick and I’m surprised he’s not rated higher in all of the power rankings

I wouldn’t be surprised if we did end up taking him at 9 and he’s the first real bolter of the night

McGowan with the inside word perhaps?

Would happily take Draper off their hands if that happens!

If thats the case it hasn't got to Twomey yet. He didn't mention him today as an option for Melbourne in the latest 'Gettible' update on the AFL website.

Is there a link for today's updated version?? Can't seem to find it.

Woops sorry video was posted Wednesday. I only just saw it pop up on my phone.

Please ignore. Apologies.

I also meant Twomey didn't* mention Hotton as a Melbourne option in the latest video.

Lalor is the obvious gun player for #1, then it’s a lottery. I think Draper goes to Blues or Crows. Both would be quickly snapped by Dees if available but I think it’s unlikely.

‪In order of preference ‬
At “5”‪… Langford or FOS or Smith
At “9”…‪Travaglia or Allan or Lindsay

‪Mids mids mids ‬

‪whilst I think Armstrong or Tauru ‬will be good players, imv Dees need to use this prime picks to start to rebuild for next generation elite midfield‬.

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice?
