If the choice ends up between O'Sullivan and Smith who we taking?

Personally I'd prefer O'Sullivan, has more weapons and could be a game breaker.

That's great for us because Adelaide will now be spooked into trading up with Norf and Norf can use 4 on Tauru!

I’m looking at

5 Langford

9 Travaglia

but if Langford was gone and O’Sullivan was available, it would be still be a good outcome for the Dees !!

5 - Smith

9 - Allan

Edited by PaulRB

Pick 1: O'Sullivan (Rich)

Pick 2: Draper (Adel)

Pick 3: Langford (Carl)

Pick 4: Tauru (North)

Pick 5: Lalor (Melb)

Pick 6: Smith (Rich)

Pick 7: Smillie (Saints)

Pick 8: Travaglia (Saints)

Pick 9: Reid (Melb)

Probably fantasy for Lalor to slip through to us but if Richmond go O'Sullivan or Smith at 1 then I wouldn't completely rule it out. Likely one of the other teams grab him and in that case I think Langford is the one that gets through to us.

Pick 9 I'm still torn on and will chop and change up until the draft. Reid has composure, ball use and is an excellent decision maker. Something our midfield can certainly use.

Other mids I like are Allan, Berry, Lindsay, Hotton and Hynes

I also see an argument for going tall and wouldn't be upset to see one of Armstrong, Shanahan or J Whitlock taken here or if a pick split occurs.

Keep changing my mind on the Jaguar or Positive Langers!

5. Langford (or Jagga)

9. Lindsay

79. Someone with a funny name

Hearing that Someone with a funny name is rated very highly by JT 👀

With Carlton taking Draper, there is no chance we get Langford. Seems to me like if North take Tauru early, we will be choosing between O'Sullivan and Reid.

I reckon Adelaide will pull the trigger on a deal with North for Pick 2 to get him

or, 79. Someone no ones ever heard of

5 Langford most likely (Lalor unlikely to be available… nor is Draper.. might be able to get OSullivan )

9 Travaglia (or Allan, Reid or Lindsay if TT is gone)

79  if the MFC wants to go with a last pick … who has a funny name … perhaps on the list is
Gabriel Stumpf or Jett Hasting or Oliver Depaoli-Kubank !!

Haha, how many picks have you had SONS?

5 Best Mid

9 Best Player -might be still a mid, would be ok if it was a tall. Just dont water the pick down.

Whoever the Demons pick, I just hope they are excellent kicks who can hit a leading target lace out on the chest.

Sick of drafting blokes who are terrible kicks and poor decision makers.

Happy to be proven wrong, but I'm not on the Travaglia bandwagon.  Lacks polish with his disposal and just doesn't seem to have the class one would expect for a top 10 pick in a very good draft.  He may play 200+ games, but that's not my litmus test for pick 9.  Plenty in tne top 50 will play 200 games.  But I see why some like his manic style.  I think he'll be a good player.

No to Armstrong.  He's just not competitive enough in the air.  I'm not saying he won't make it, as he has class, but I don't see the aggression or combativeness required to be a sure thing.  I doubt he'll become the best key forward from this draft.

Pick 5 - Unlike our resident expert, Deespencer, and some others, I do like Jagga Smith.  For me his footy IQ with his positioning, as well as his reflexes, is insane.  Racking up the disposals, as he does, is incredibly underrated.  My eyes tell me he has really good initial pace, although I know our expert doesn't see it.  And I love his fast feet and sidesteps.  Remember, he's only 18.  What will good coaching and a few years of preseason weights turn him into.  Smith has innately what can't be taught and what most don't have.

I also like Langford for obvious reasons, as well as O'Sullivan.  I know there are slows on O'Sullivan, but for me he's the classiest of the lot.  The only concern is why he doesn't get more involved.

We virtually can't go wrong with the 5th live pick in the draft.

Pick 9 - Our expert doesn't like Bo Allan and his decision making, but I love his attributes.  His ceiling is sky high.  I also like Berry, but know it's probably a bit early for him.  I'll back whomever they choose at this pick.  They'll still be spolit for choice.

Spot on.

I see too much of Jayden Hunt in Travaglia. Which isn't a bad thing because he's carved out a solid career himself. Blazes away far too often when he gets on a run off half back and usually comes back the other way.

Smith is an absolute jet, I'm still scratching my head how he's not in top 2 discussions. If he slides to our pick and we select him, that's a steal in my eyes. Him and Langford are a win for us either way.

Glad someone else sees the same in what I see in Allan. I reckon his potential is enormous. He's got the athletic and physical profile to play round 1, but also potential to slide into the midfield in a year or two and play a similar style to Elliot Yeo.

Smith/Langford along with Allan would be a huge draft win for us.

Agree with this except for FOS.

Will be interesting to see who's right over the next few years.

Smillie is not the one. Because of his size he finds it easy throwing around slighter players at 18’s. Can he do it when he actually plays against men? I don’t think so. Also very weak in the air. Screams of another St Kilda bust at pick 7 or 8.

On repeat cycle … I’m looking at

5 Langford but if Langford was gone and O’Sullivan was available, it would be still be a good outcome for the Dees !!

9 Travaglia but if TT was gone, then look at Allan, Reid or Lindsay

Top 20 players in this draft are high quality. Even potential later first round picks like Hotton and Hynes are excellent selections.

Lindsay is a weird one for me, I’m not sure I see enough in him to warrant selecting him over say an Allan or Travaglia. Doesn’t really stand out to me, could be wrong

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
