Just canโ€™t see us taking Langford AND Allan. 2 190cm+ left footed big bodied mids? Dont think so in my opinion.ย

They're not solely just pure mids.ย

Langford is a weapon up forward and he showed that at Coates League level this year where he kicked 20 goals playing as a mid who could rest up froward and take strong contested marks.

Allan is more half back flanker that will eventually transition into a midfield role similar to Rivers.

Cal T. did recently link us to these 3 players, but if this is accurate, I hope we do pick Langford.

I reckon Langford is our number 1 priority but it will be dependent on what Adelaide doย

Allan would be an excellent addition at 9. ย He has good athletic ability and strong build. ย Can play half back and then into midfield role (like Riv is doing). ย

Youโ€™ve got me a bit worried now. Iโ€™m hoping we draft one of the โ€œtop 5โ€ ranked mids at 5. I would be happy with Allan at 9 though.

Pick 5: Langford

Split 9 and hopefully take Hynes and J Whitlock

Or

Pick 5 Tauru

Split pick 9 and take Hynes and Hotton

Concerns over kicking is probably the biggest knock on Allan, though. Iโ€™m big on the kid and heโ€™s by far my preference at pick 9, but seems redundant to overlook Draper, whose agility and evasiveness is immense, because of concerns re his kicking, but reach on someone who also has kicking issues, but doesnโ€™t probably have the same ceiling that Draper has.ย

Who has concerns over his kicking?

Edit : I missed your earlier post.

From his highlights his kicking wasnโ€™t too bad.

We can take one of Lalor, Smith, Langford, FOS or Draper why the heck wouldnโ€™t we take one of these fiveโ€ฆput Taru in there too not that we should, if we donโ€™t end up with one of those at 5 Iโ€™m sure I wonโ€™t be the only one whoโ€™s more than annoyed.ย

We better not pick Allan, our pick 5 better be one of Langford, Smith or Lalorย

Hard to pick them if they are not thereย

In tomorrow's West Australia.ย

The other wingman in West Australia, Bo Allan, is also on the Eaglesโ€™ radar, but Richmond and Melbourne all have a strong interest in the Peel Thunder product and have picks before West Coast.

I just watched Allen's highlights and there's some good attributes there. Solid in the air and physically he looks close to AFL ready. I wouldn't be upset if we snag him at pick 9. Hopefully the 'go-home factor' isn't an issue.

Flight risk?

They are all flights risks when the WA clubs offer them such big money. Even more so when they are guns (which is what Jason Taylor drafts more often than not)ย

if he is excellent as an AFL player and later wants to go home, you get a first round pick and something else.ย  So It's not much of a gamble.

First round picks are a gamble. You're trading an established, AFL-ready player for a kid who could be a bust.

We traded Luke Jackson for picks that drafted Jefferson (2022) and Windsor (2023).

If we had Luke Jackson in 2023 I am convinced we win the flag. Neither of the finals losses would've happened. But we lost him, and had Jefferson instead, who so far has contributed nothing. It may turn out in the end, but for now, we may have one less flag because of Jackson's wish to go home.

We gazumped them for Oliver all those years ago and then prized pick 9 out of them even though they never needed to trade pick 9

Good luck with pick 18 next year, Bombers!ย
