Would you care to explain point for point how you would have liked that interview to go? We've heard  it was bad, lacked leadership, wasn't up to it. Right now you're speaking through an echochamber. The view from the cheap seats isn't bad but let's get some constuctive feedback on this. 

Tell us all exactly what you would like that have heard our president say on a morning talkback radio program, what would have reassured you in a time of severe turbulence or even crisis, how should she have prepared better, what does competent leadership look like in a situation as unique as this one?

Very well said, the amount of people that are comfortable legitimising her effort under the guise "well, this is what you asked for" is astounding. I am unable to conceivably understand how people can defend her efforts (or realistically, lack thereof) yesterday and the old mantra of "what did you expect her to say?". 

It is not unreasonable at all, that people expect their President to be a competent media performer. One can accept that such an interview would not, necessarily, delve completely into the vault. But to wheel out that nonsense yesterday is an indictment on the current Club and all members. The MFC have refused to accept any sort of responsibility for the issues which have emerged over the past three seasons; rather, they have preferred to attempt to hide all of the skeletons and trout out corporate speak regarding 'culture', 'visions' and a 'one mission' approach. Had the Club dealt with some of the issues in an authentic and genuine manner, I would suspect we're not in the position we're now in. Own the mistakes, genuinely and authentically learn from them, and then look to create best practice out of it. This isn't to say that mistakes will not - or should not be made; mistakes and mismanagement occurs. But it becomes an issue when it is repetitive, not learned from and ignored. 

I truly think that is now untenable for Roffey to continue in her role, however, the board is stacked in her favour. I would express similar sentiments regarding Pert regarding the nature of his tenure. 

There are ruminations that several ex-players are being courted for a potential board challenge; whether this comes to fruition, remains to be seen. But change is clearly needed from the top down and it is needed now.

I think it was certainly a tough interview to get right but only because of everything that came before it. If one of Petracca's issues with the club is that he felt he was abandoned after his injury and the president has not spoken to him or his family then there's not much that can be said for it.

But if it was just that then it could have been remedied. She could have admitted fault in that area and promised to do better. Or she could have laid out a real plan for how we're going to overcome these issues. At the moment everything out of the club has been handwaving, excuses and passing the buck.

Ultimately the fact that we've gotten to this point is the bigger problem than the interview itself.

The sheer fact that despite being one of the best performing sides over the last 4 seasons, we are back as the perceived laughing stock / problem child of the AFL, speaks to an undeniable failure of leadership and governance.

It does not matter if the reality is not as grim from inside the 4 walls, the perception that we are a club in disarray once more, is going to cause enough damage that it will impact every part of our club, but most especially our on field success.

I just cannot believe that we are here again so soon.

That I am thinking of disengaging because I have reached such a level of trauma with this club, is a [censored] sad indictment on every person who is running this club, because most of them would not give a single [censored] if our club folded tomorrow, they would just walk away and find another job.

The problem is not that she spoke, it’s that she spoke so badly and was unprepared. I’m in the camp that footy issues are perts domain and better if he spoke, but expecting your president to speak when the club is copping it is not unreasonable

The interview wasn't bad.

It was awful.

Her interview responses were contradictory, confusing, disappointing and, worst of all, at times incredulous. How has she not spoken with Trac's family despite the severity of his injury and the focus at the time on whether it was right for him to have gone back on the field? The issue was raised 2.5 months ago, not just this week. 

Yes, as president she is rightfully and reasonably a step or two removed from football operations. But the issues facing us with Trac (as well as Clarry, Smith and perhaps ANB/Pickett wanting out) aren't exclusively football department issues.

If she attempted to dead-bat the questions, she failed miserably given how much she opened herself up to criticism.

It's difficult, if not impossible, to resist the calls coming thick and fast now that she is incapable of doing her job and incapable of holding her role as president.

I agree. Admit the problems, acknowledge the failings and get started on righting the ship. The batten down the hatches approach won’t cut it anymore. 

I have been supporting this club for 45 years and it’s truly amazing how many years we have been in crisis, at this stage it’s in the DNA. No other club struggles to retain players like we do. At this stage how many more “crises “ do members have left?

Ok, a player got injured in a collision sport, big deal, let’s not panic and sink the ship, calm down.
