Lalor is the wild card. Big body and talented.

This is my vote, wouldn't be surprised if he's gone before our pick.

Murphy Reid looks a bit small for modern footy.

Whose the tallest from this potential crop?

Agree. Lalor at 187cm and Langford at 190cm offer inside footy contests and marking ability.

Now to make a wise choice.

In JT I trust. We got this

Is any of those kids Cripps size mid?

Josh Smillie and Lalor

While I am celebrating RN. It’s kinda sad we are back on the boat once again.

Lalor or Langford unless Jagga slides.

Don't trade it! With Levi Ashcroft a likely number 1, we will have a choice of one of Jagga Smith, Finn O'Sullivan, Murphy Reid, Harvey Langford, Sid Draper or Josh Smillie.  All should be excellent AFL players.

He won't be Swooper. I suspect Jagga Smith or Finn O'Sullivan will be. Reid won't be in that top end mix

We have to take this pick to the draft and pick up a quality midfielder who can play in the red & blue for the next 10 years. While I rate Houston and some of the other potential trade targets, none of them are more valuable than this pick.

Praying Alan Richardson goes back on his earlier comment about trading our pick for older players. Our list management has been good in the past, got to back them in to pick a future gun.

I hope you are right but I can’t agree on our list management performance. It hasn’t been up to standard for some time. JT’s hit rate in the drafts has been good but his ability to identify young talent has been seriously limited by Lamb’s games swapping multiple picks to get up the order and coughing up picks for recycled NQR players that have added little to our list in ability or leadership.

let’s go to the draft and get some young talent, we need midfield leg speed and foot skills.

Today was like a massive rush that provided me the as much fun as the Freeo death ride last year.

I think that over the last couple weeks, our whole strategy going forward has changed.

A fit and motivated Trac keen for next year with a driven Oliver and potential pick 10-15 (which I was expecting) and I can understand the desire to trade for players. I agreed with trading it and brining in more middle aged talent.

We really can't burn P5 on a trade if this draft has so many 'gun' mids at the high end.

We definitely need more kicking skills and speed around the pill.

Looking forward to who we get.

Edited for some horrific spelling....

Very worried we’re going to burn pick 5 in a Tim Lamb special

We HAVE to let Jason Taylor get to work at the top end of the draft this year - even better if we can trade a future first to get another first rounder this year

Langford my number one pick, but Lalor not far behind

Even if Trac leaves, for the sake of argument, to Carlton.

Could we get McKay and their first rounder this year?

If we go next year with McKay plus pick 5 and pick 9, it would be a great starting position.

That should see Petty going back to his natural position next to May and Lever.

Tell em they are dreaming @ElDiablo14.

Love the optimism tho.

I know we need an A grade midfielder but what’s peoples thoughts on splitting pick 5?
Given the evenness and depth of this draft if we could get a top 10 and a later first round pick it might be worth it. Give JT two picks to work with.
Also I wonder if the combine might change the order a bit more this year than others. Could be a few bolters

MFCSS in action here.

Make a Horlicks and have a lay down @demoncat

Langford, Lalor, Reid, Hynes and Jack Whitlock all look pretty good to me.

If Richmond end up with a whole bunch of first rounders and we could get one still in the top 10 and another, I like it

Don't underestimate Reid.  He's coming with a rush. He's highly regarded.

Pick 5 to start with   Does that equate  with say

Houston and pick 13. Just guessing

or say pick 11 and pick 16

again guessing the numbers but if the draft is as even as suggested then what is smarter ?

trust in JT.  Given us the goods in earlier years why not now !

Take whoever has the most footy smarts and best disposal.

I stand corrected. FWIW, I don't see Ashcroft an the number 1 out of that group.

That may be Jagga Smith. May not get to us

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
