I'm going to try and be my most respectful everyone!

But here, in all its glory, is the quintessential biased Melbourne supporter. It's the constant 'we are the victim' talk.

You are so caught up in the victimisation talk that you have clearly missed the media scrutiny put on both Collingwood during the Treloar/Stephenson fiasco a few years back And the start of this year when they were under-performing and the constant media attention on Essendon's continued woes, list and game plan issues and underperforming.

Widen that perspective my brother.

Dont disagree with you re the past reporting. and its certainly not we are the victim talk. I recognised we havent had the year we wanted, I referenced the appalling technique failure with an attempt to remedy it .

While I mentioned the football acts that had a significant impact on our club I  noted that we had coped with them. I did not refer to the fact that the tribunal decisions were not challenged I did not refer to the fact that the club did not highlight the consequences of these football acts. It is noticeable that head high and concussion incidents are now league wide issues. I am not claiming victim. I am claiming change must be made and I would hope that our club was a significant advocate for those considerations

My perspective is wider than the issue of Trac continuing. My perspective is not a single player but the club reaction that is why I wanted Roffey or Pert to end the speculation which now appears to have been done  The league does need to look at what is occurring at Collingwood and who knows whats happened at Essendon Tom can now focus on that and maybe he could also continue to examine why umpiring standards appear so variable. I notice the Collingwood coach commented that crowd volume may have affected the outcome of his teams latest loss. Really??????

Seriously this whole thread is a sad indictment on the mindset of large swathes of the Melbourne supporter base..

Tom Morris.. Tom Morris, off all people, throws out an unsourced piece of ambulance chasing “journalism” and such is the desperate despair of the MFC fans, we immediately accept it as fact, reach for our pitchforks and seek to burn the barn down.

Get a grip.

This is the Tom Morris who was kicked out of the AFL & associated gigs for his incredibly sexist and inappropriate comments regarding women. He was rightly reviled & criticised. He gets another chance and reverts straight back to his muck raking reporting and we now have 14 odd pages on an article he wrote.  If someone can post something he has got right ..then please let me know. Same for Cornes…Kozzy was gone to Port..Petty to Adelaide…I guess if they throw enough wild theories out there…they might just get lucky ..?

great post

i forget all the nonsense they publish

an unaccountable industry these days

No good media team should be caring about FTA coverage. Does anyone in the AFL media talk about TV ratings? No, they only talk about attendance. The Hawks have had 1 FTA game all year and their supporters are turning up in droves with the way they're playing. They need to do a poll of our supporter base and find out what our preferred day/times are and then submit that to the AFL for our fixture request/considerations.

You do realise the club don’t control what is televised?

Can you riddle us a trade scoop Norm?

The only scoops I ever got were from an old guy at the golf club who I now suspect was slipping into dementia. His strike rate beyond Kennedy for Howe was very low.

No apparently Covid being in the air stopped the curse for working for a year or two before switching back on.

Not only that we had one of the best operators I've ever seen in my time in supporting the club in Peter Jackson who ran a tight and disciplined ship.

He's light years ahead of Roffey and Pert.

This. 1000% this. Peter Jackson, I reckon, saved the club and was exactly what we needed. And what we need now. He was a tough operator, experienced, and got so many things right. We really miss him (and Burgess - an under recognised loss. He was the one who had the conversation with Goodwin to keep Jackson in the ruck at the end of the third quarter of the Grand Final).

I was quoting a part of your post, which was in reference to the media not criticising clubs in Essendon and Collingwood the same way they do with Melbourne.

Which is just blatantly untrue.

That is victim talk.

I'm no media expert, but I think media savvy people like Roffey or Pert would know how to make a statement without actually giving too much away. Really more of a reassurance for fans, but could also function as a 'we hear you' to Trac's camp publicly too.

Transparency as well perhaps, but for me it's more been the lack of authenticity from club leadership. I think both Pert and Roffey have made comments over the last few years that are now seen as, at best; overconfident, or at worst; misleading. Perhaps they've simply been over positive in some regard, or perhaps they have thought supporters just want promises.

Even Gawn, who is a fantastic natural speaker, has become a bit like that in my opinion as well. It's ok to be honest with us supporters. We're not going anywhere, you don't have to make us promises all the time or tell us how to make noise, we all love the club and just wanted to be treated as real people.

Firstly, I’d be embarrassed if the club made a statement in regard to a Tom Morris BS tweet

Secondly, the lack of authenticity - how do you think Roffey and Pert have been misleading? you can’t make these statements without giving example. What promises have been made?

I can totally understand if the family are still disgruntled after KB even if we followed protocol.

Life is never an armchair ride at a footy club or a job. This is a challenge we need to get through.

The absolute best.

Called a spade a spade and was willing to make the hard decisions when needed.

I remember watching his first interview as an acting CEO on On The Couch back in 2013 and I walked away comfortable knowing that the club had taken huge steps forward in getting our [censored] back together again.

The legacy he's left at the club limitless. The unfortunate thing is that we simply did not have him long enough in my opinion.

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin
