The President can talk about the club culture, that's what I was referring to. That's what we've been hammered about all year, in case you hadn't noticed.

So what would you like her to talk about in terms of our culture?

All of our players re-signed, yes we didn't make finals but we won 11 games with a hell of a lot of injuries and losing Gus on the eve of the season. Good culture does not always = flags.

We have one player who is disgruntled and looking for excuses to go play for a bigger team that will raise his profile (think $$$) even more, off the back of trauma he suffered on the field.

Just because the media piles on, doesn't mean our club has any more or less cultural issues than any other club.

The club is not falling apart like Tom Morris et al would have you believe.

You can think all that if it makes you sleep more soundly at night, if you think there is not a problem with the culture of the club you are in dreamland.

Its frustrating & disappointing on what’s occurring as it’s been handled poorly by club and player and it’s become a circus! Great clubs handle this stuff in house and I would be filthy on both  club and player IF requesting a trade after signing a long term deal! How our club has found a way to unravel since winning a flag is mind boggling when you consider the experience of Pert and not sure whos ultimately responsible for this, is it on the footy dept, richo , goody ??

No they don't, every club's dirty laundry gets aired and every club has dirty laundry. It's how you respond that makes you a great club or not.

I didn’t say that at all. And just because you have nuffies like @dazzledavey36 clapping your post, doesn’t mean you comprehended what I said.

I said our culture is not better or worse than other clubs. I never said there were no problems, did I?

By the way, since you seem to think we have problems, please can you tell us all what they are? Or maybe your happy clapper mate can tell us what those cultural issues are

Every club has issues, and yet I don’t see their club president releasing statements to appease their highly strung supporters.

This is correct. Time for you to have some stern words with young Christian.

I don't want our president having anything to do with list management. It's like asking Tim Lamb to get involved in securing us a home base.

To be fair, I don't necessarily think that anyone is advocating Roffey should be involved with list management discussions. But it is absolutely reasonable that she should be capable of commenting on the state of affairs of the club she presides over. It's not binary, she doesn't have to comment on list management matters or not comment at all.

Given the season we've had, or seasons if you want to extend this back to last year, it's an entirely reasonable expectation.

We clearly have issues right now but I'm not sure if the president giving a running commentary on it is the right thing to do at the moment either. a re-affirming stance on our culture would be nice but that's probably not going to do much right now either because few will believe it.

Pert has made his statement, right now (at least for this week) it's up to Christian to speak when and where he sees fit.

Besides a few cliches to appease the hysterical masses, what exactly will her saying anything change?

I would rather she says something when there’s something to say; for example after a review of the FD is complete, or when there’s movement on the home base front.

Whatever she says now is just going to be lip service and will annoy everyone even more.
She is not running the footy department. If the board is undertaking a review of said department, with what I hope is an external person with sound footy knowledge, then I expect her to speak on the outcomes of said review.
I don’t need her to give me a running commentary on where we are as a club on the field, because frankly it’s not her area of expertise and I don’t want her involved.

I think you're both right, I think there are clearly issues we need to address, but there is also evidence we're getting a hell of a lot more right than most other clubs, basically all of our good players are locked in long term, we've had stability in basically all lines, we won 11 games despite the off season and injury run from hell, and that's off the back of 3 consecutive top 4 finishes.

There is definite reasons for optimism, and i think we can play finals next year if we have a good trade/draft period, listen to the players and make appropriate changes and get Trac and Clarry back in for huge pre-seasons and keep the injuries to a minimum

This is the issue, they can come out and back our culture etc. all they want, some will choose to believe it and some won't. It's almost like some posters want Roffey to come out and tell us that the club is imploding and we have so many issues we have decided to fold. I'm not sure what they want to hear.

A hand clap reaction is passive aggression response is it 😅

Wow. Just when you think society could not get even more crazier.

The ironic thing and more hypocritical, is that I've seen you do the exact same thing to many other posts that you don't agree with.

Yet I don't see those guys kicking up a hissy fit unlike you.

You know exactly what you’re doing. A drive by reaction when you have nothing to contribute is passive aggressive.

Reacting to posts is fine if you’re also contributing to the topic of conversation at hand. You are not.

If you think our culture is so bad, I would really like you to provide some evidence to prove it.
Again, I don’t need you to tell me why our club isn’t perfect or facing issues that most clubs, especially clubs that miss finals face. I’m asking for specifics relating to our culture.

One thing is still baffling to me.

That of all people Petracca is the one that created this whole chaos.

As much as I was one harsh critic of his footy, I always felt that he was at the level of Max, JV in terms of commitment and leadership inside the club.

If this all happened because of that KB game and the aftermath, that doesn't sit well with me.

Why does he feel the need to punish the club (and supporters as a byproduct)?

I don’t think this is only because of the injury. I think he’s been unhappy since last pre season and the injury is giving him an out that won’t damage his personal brand if he asks to leave.

By “punishing” the club as you say, he’s trying to make the narrative about Melbourne being the problem. He knows we are an easy target, because of other issues we’ve had, and he has to keep his own brand clean in order to not do any damage to his incredibly lucrative social media presence.

If us as supporters are feeling peeved about it, just imagine what the feeling is inside the club from guys like Gawn and Viney.

Curious to know when trac is planning on speaking to the supporters?? It’s been 2 weeks since the rumours started circulating and not a word from him.  The longer his silence goes for the more likely he is looking for an exit.

Loyalty should be paramount.

The club showed that when they committed to 7 years and 1 million.

If loyalty is no longer there, by all means he can leave.

I'd much prefer transparency, I think that's the least we should get from him.

My only hope is that he doesn't end up playing for the filth. That would bring him down, to me at least, to almost the level of a T$.

Well Trac is the guest speaker next Sunday at the Ringwood RSL ... might be 3.30pm

Fifty bucks entrance fee but I'm not sure there is a question time segment

But if so, maybe Chris from Camberwell will roll up and ask the obligatory 5 minute question (without drawing breath)

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
