It could, of course, be more complicated than that.

What if he's correct about everything? What if he's being a true leader by calling out things that aren't good enough? There's surely been enough happen now to show our culture may not be as good as Pert has described.

That doesn't mean he's gone about it the right way, but if he's actually trying to demand better then I'm not sure that qualifies as 'toxic and corrosive', but if he purposefully leaked it to the media then it's murkier.

As Andy mentioned i don't really want to get into anything unconfirmed or speculate too much, but you might well be right, we just don't know enough.

What i would say is that IF it's gone as far as a player leaking this to the media that would be incredibly dissapointing

Many of us heard a lot of things last year, and this year, and probably will next year, too. It’s so easy to say things have been brewing for a long time, a statement that serves no purpose other than to clandestinely stoke the fire of rumours. I’m sure things are “brewing” in every club.

Fair enough let's hope they make these changes and get back on Tracc... funny thing is the team isn't that bad if they are all on the same pages we could definitely make finals next year

Absolutely. If the right changes are made, we could still be in the window

But they have to nail it

I would like an embargo on any further contact with the press. The entire MFC should STFU.

Thrash it out behind closed doors. Announce whatever changes come from the review when appropriate to do so. And every player should work their butts off to be in the best possible shape come Rd1 next year.

Freo are the only team with draft or player capital. Even their current draft hand is unders (8,13,17). That isnt going to nett you the next Petracca. It would take 1 pick in the top 5, 1 in top 10 and a player to start the conversation. Why? PA want to first rounders for Houston.... that is why.

The salary or contract shouldn't even be a factor. No other club would even batter an eye for paying him circa 1M pa for the next 5, there would be plenty who go upwards of putting a 8M contract in front of him.

I think 8&13 would be about right for a player that will be 29 at the start of next season coming of a very serious injury.

Freo have also been linked strongly to Chad Warner who is out of contact next year. If he won’t sign now and I’m the Swans I’d be asking the question.

With Warner off the books they could  probably afford his wages too.

I don't think it will happen and I think he will stay, I’m just saying it’s possible if he really wants out.

If it were just that simple.

Then perhaps you should do what I’ve been told (in no uncertain terms) to do… don’t allude to anything, don’t hint, don’t start a guessing game etc. It took some time for me to take the advice despite the rude manner in which I was advised.

The PM you sent me didn’t contain anything I hadn’t heard before. I wasn’t convinced then, I’m not convinced now.

Have you been to Brewmanity, Roy? I haven’t because I can’t get a *second mortgage on my house.

* I rent so I don’t even have a first mortgage but you get my point. 😁

I might have missed it but aside from the line that people “familiar with the situation” have said that Trac’s going nowhere, I found the following two paragraphs of Peter Ryan’s article today the most insightful:

“Without Brayshaw’s calming influence, frustration among the group has bubbled to the surface. The retired midfielder was the team glue who brought out the best in skipper Max Gawn and vice captain Jack Viney.

But those two, who have had to tirelessly represent the players throughout the tumultuous period, have busy lives with family alongside football, and again find themselves engaging in a review where all the old problems are re-aired.”

Define ‘supporter.’

Coz if what he’s doing is supporting I can’t imagine the carnage he’d wreak on something he doesn’t support.

Give cp5 the captaincy then?

But it cannot rely solely on captain Max Gawn to carry the can for the whole team, on and off the field. He has been significant for Oliver’s personal turnaround this season.

But after the club lost to Sydney Swans in Opening Round, and interview requests went in for Oliver to speak after his turbulent pre-season, the club wheeled out Gawn instead.

Out loud, the skipper questioned why the media load wasn’t being more shared?

It was all on Max. Again. Even after being beaten in the ruck by Brodie Grundy at the SCG that night.

Someone who I like Rohan Connolly does a weekly podcast with Rodney Eade. They discuss our current predicament and what needs to happen moving forward

It starts around 4 minutes: Footyology Podcast: Is disaster looming for Demons? | Footyology

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence. Lack of preparation after a problematic preseason prevented Oliver from reaching the high standards set before last year’s hamstring woes. BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin

At the time, he was on his way to many personal honours and the club in strong finals contention.
