I would like an embargo on any further contact with the press. The entire MFC should STFU.

Thrash it out behind closed doors. Announce whatever changes come from the review when appropriate to do so. And every player should work their butts off to be in the best possible shape come Rd1 next year.

If it were just that simple.

Many of us heard a lot of things last year, and this year, and probably will next year, too. It’s so easy to say things have been brewing for a long time, a statement that serves no purpose other than to clandestinely stoke the fire of rumours. I’m sure things are “brewing” in every club.

I PM’ed you information that you didn’t want to believe

That is your choice, but i stand by my Source, and coming from a News Background if i am unable to give out information publicly then that is how it stands

Then perhaps you should do what I’ve been told (in no uncertain terms) to do… don’t allude to anything, don’t hint, don’t start a guessing game etc. It took some time for me to take the advice despite the rude manner in which I was advised.

The PM you sent me didn’t contain anything I hadn’t heard before. I wasn’t convinced then, I’m not convinced now.

Have you been to Brewmanity, Roy? I haven’t because I can’t get a *second mortgage on my house.

* I rent so I don’t even have a first mortgage but you get my point. 😁

Fair enough.

BTW not sure if I’ve told you this already but I read your posts in a Winston Churchill voice 🤭

I might have missed it but aside from the line that people “familiar with the situation” have said that Trac’s going nowhere, I found the following two paragraphs of Peter Ryan’s article today the most insightful:

“Without Brayshaw’s calming influence, frustration among the group has bubbled to the surface. The retired midfielder was the team glue who brought out the best in skipper Max Gawn and vice captain Jack Viney.

But those two, who have had to tirelessly represent the players throughout the tumultuous period, have busy lives with family alongside football, and again find themselves engaging in a review where all the old problems are re-aired.”

Define ‘supporter.’

Coz if what he’s doing is supporting I can’t imagine the carnage he’d wreak on something he doesn’t support.

Give cp5 the captaincy then?

But it cannot rely solely on captain Max Gawn to carry the can for the whole team, on and off the field. He has been significant for Oliver’s personal turnaround this season.

But after the club lost to Sydney Swans in Opening Round, and interview requests went in for Oliver to speak after his turbulent pre-season, the club wheeled out Gawn instead.

Out loud, the skipper questioned why the media load wasn’t being more shared?

It was all on Max. Again. Even after being beaten in the ruck by Brodie Grundy at the SCG that night.

Someone who I like Rohan Connolly does a weekly podcast with Rodney Eade. They discuss our current predicament and what needs to happen moving forward

It starts around 4 minutes: Footyology Podcast: Is disaster looming for Demons? | Footyology

Hard to know what the real story here is, but considering Petracca has not come out and denied any of it or said he's here for the long term makes you wonder. I've always thought there has been stuff bubbling away for a couple of years amongst our players, like most clubs.

I think Christian had the (c) in the bag but if what is reported is true, then he has done himself and the club a lot of damage IMO. Hard to see him being captain.

The tragedy is that his white-anting undermines the very improvement he is trying to drive.

ie. Dan Houston no longer wanting to come because of all the noise around the club

I may have missed it.  But is that about Houston just a rumour / speculation or is there any real evidence?

I hope I’m very wrong but I have an uncomfortable feeling we may have seen the last of Trac at MFC. It just feels like the club is running the clock down till his exit. That interview with Gawn yesterday gave me the impression Gawn was quite [censored] off with him and that he may have burned off a lot of trust within the playing group.

Can we please just have a normal end to 2024/offseason and 2025 preseason so we can focus on good footy?

We were in the wilderness forever. A burnt out shell of our former glory days. Then we built a seriously good side, won a flag, worked our way back into discussions and relevance again, and rebuilding a reputation... only to now find ourselves sliding down the ladder and heading back into murky territory.

A lot of this stuff is still mostly/likely rumour and like every other side, there will be stuff that needs to be resolved. But the other teams aren't being spoken about. It's us. Again.

Our leadership group needs to band together and put this [censored] to bed and commit to continuing our path to a new legacy of glory in the modern era. We can either be like Geelong and Sydney, and maintain success at the top - or drop off like the Bombers etc.

Whatever the basis for all of this, I'd love to see the Club stand up at the end of the year and commit to us + one another to continue what we have been building. We are coming from a long way back, so there's still a lot to do. One flag will not erase a million years of drubbings. We can still return to where we belong, or we can return to irrelevance and wait another million years for success and respect.

It's our choice.

Failed to fulfill the promise of his breakout six goal effort against the Tigers in 2023 and was generally disappointing as a key forward. It remains to be seen whether Simon Goodwin will persevere with him in attack or return him to the backline where he was an important cog in the club’s 2021 premiership success. After a bright start to the season, playing mostly in defence, Howes seemed to lose his way in midseason but fought back with some good performances at Casey and finished the year back at AFL level. Sadly, had to wrap up a great career in midstream on the back of multiple concussions which culminated in the Maynard hit in the 2023 Qualifying Final. His loss to the club was inestimable over and above his on field talent given his character and leadership qualities, all of which have been sorely missed. The son of former Demon Brownlow Medalist Shane, Taj added a further 16 games to his overall tally of games but a number were as substitute. SLIP SLIDING AWAY by Meggs

It was a sweaty, slippery night at Cazalys Stadium, a tough slog with low scoring and missed opportunities.  The Hokball Hawks hung on to win by a goal and sit second on the ladder, relegating the disappointed Demons to, almost certainly, finals spectators.   We had to win this match. When news broke of late withdrawals of talisman Kate Hore and key back Gaby Colvin, expectations plummeted, and Demon fans despaired.  The bad news was the signature song of 2024, a season that’s
