He's just a kid Daz. Still trying to get the tempo of the game. That last goal was down to missed tackles from experienced players at that last stoppage.

I know he's a kid but don't think that should an excuse to let him off. He had a pretty bad last 10 minutes with him giving away the 50 as well.

He'll learn, but it's still no excuse.

Apologies for poking the bear, but

Chandler or Bedford ?

Bedford by a fair margin for mine.  He has a weapon which Chin does not.

Chin only has manic follow up pressure (chasing tail) and second efforts which sometimes works and looks good when it comes off.

Bedford brings the wheels plus the latter.

I know we are getting obilterated in the ruck but is there any chance our mids can play goalside ffs.

Goalside at clearances is it much to ask for, on their shoulder.

Also stick a [censored] tackle.

Never has the absence of one game-changer from a team been more glaringly exposed than today.

Or the failings of a club which signed a backup but then decided that under no circumstances will he ever be given a game.

Pearce gut punched him! How the [censored] that wasn’t a free to Kolt is beyond me.

I don't understand how what we just witnessed then is possible.

This is an experienced midfield - every player attending centre bounces has won a Flag and is over 23. They all presumably understood why the game earlier in the season against Fremantle was a disaster. And they're part of a team that has to keep winning if they have any chance of making the eight.

Despite all this, they've been thoroughly uncompetitive.

This is beyond disappointing. It's a stunning failure.

It can. Freo kick straight then it’s another shocking 92 point flogging !!!  Dees need to show heart and strategy.

Glad Goody got Fullarton to replace Grundy.  Glad McAdam and Billings were recruited. 28 year old fragile types with no ticker.

The stat sheet reads like a Mark Neeld coached team.
PTSD is strong.

Games at Optus like Geelong, Brisbane and Carlton games. Preordained cheating

main thing for now is to avoid being completely wiped off the park

if we can keep the margin around this mark we'll have done very well

i fear it'll double

Don’t look at the clearances 😭

Man Freo are such a bogey side. Walters is about 100 years old but giving us a hiding as he always does. Josh “Wayne Carey” Treacy is back again, he was there in Alice Springs too. Jackson kicking goals he never would have slotted for us. Serong, Brayshaw and Young looking like the 2006 Eagles. Drives me crazy. Lever, Clarry and the rest of our ‘leaders’ bar May have made it pretty [censored] easy for them though.

He jogged after his opponent,

Fritsch drives me mad with his laziness and lack of aggression and work rate.

Have a look at

FRITSCH       Q1. 6.50
                      Q2. 13.40

We really struggle against good clearance teams who have hard 2 way running mids. Brayshaw, Serong and Young just embarrassing whole midfield. Lost it at selection with no Fullarton. Draper is lazy and apart from Merrett the Bombers have a very average midfield compared to the Dockers.

This is reminding me of when I played U17’s and the top side would show up with a dozen players over 190 cm and most with beards and sideburns! We amazingly seem to be undersized all over the ground but somehow they also have midfield players everywhere, running riot!

Kosi non existent today after an amazing month.

Playing mostly higher up the field and at CBs.  His last month was better balanced playing mostly HF and lessor time in the middle or higher up the ground.

He's upped his tackles inside 50 and goals in the last 6 weeks to his usual averages prior to today.

We are paying the price inside 50 with poor ground ball gets and poor pressure at ground level inside 50 also in this first half.

Robbing Peter to try and get some speed skills further up the field.  Hasn't paid off so far.

Commentators aren't giving us a chance and rightly so, say that Freo have another 15 goal win to for grabs if they want it.

I'd love to say that we should stick it up them but I'm not confident they care enough.

So did the umps it seems. Along with about 6 clear HTBs not paid to us.

Lucky we are playing so badly that we can’t blame the umpires for this display of utter nonsense

+24 insider 50s is coach killing territory.

If I hear anyone even try to excuse this performance I'll lose it.

Bloody oath it is. I don’t buy into all the tripe around Goody - coach is a coach - but this performance is not acceptable.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
