SDK plus future Ist rounder. Let’s go for it if true.

Can I have some property for $1 too please?

‘Cats say ball is in our court’… that’s the sort of thing you say when you’re offering something really [censored] to someone really desperate.

And rezone it to residential so that it will be worth millions.

Demonland: we need a review, we need heads to roll.

Club implements review, Clayton Oliver is shown the door.

Demonland: not that kind of review

Ball is in our court.

I suspect we’ll have to pay 300-500k a year to get a future first.

Maybe pay a little and get a second.

Or we keep a player for 6 years, 6 million who we don’t trust and doesn’t trust us.

No good options here.

We’ll be lucky to get just the future first with only a low contribution on his salary.

We’ll likely get the future first and be forced to pay an eye-watering chunk of his salary for years.

The Clarry trade looks legitimate. I think we are going to get next to nothing - and if the shoe was on the other foot after two failed seasons I wouldn’t offer anything more than what the Cats have offered. Just think Bennel. The Cats would like to think their culture will turn him around, but after what we did for him this year , if he still hasn’t come good, then we are really have no other choice.

the meetings were private, so private we met at a farm to keep it a secret and now I'm going to leak to the press.

Norm Smith curse all over again. The greatest player of the modern era pushed out by an out of touch board.

It creates an image about Oliver to me..

2 days ago: “I love the club, owe them a debt.”

2 days later: Shown some pretty paddocks and told he’s the best… “oh that sounds awesome I want to do that”

2 short planks come to mind.

Infuriating. Just one long shambles. I just want to support my footy team, not deal with all the drama.

They've had the property for ages. His wife has posted pictures of their renovations on social media for about a year now.

To get to this stage the club might have come to the realisation the Clarrie was a lost cause.

I think back on all the drama that's happened at the club since 2020 and it's all happened under Gary Perts watch. He is the one that needs to leave. I think he's making Clarry the scapegoat to save his own hyde.

Here is a summary:

  • Geelong Cats are targeting Carlton Blues forward Jack Martin for the 2024 AFL season.
  • Jack Martin, 29, chose Geelong over Fremantle, hoping to overcome his soft-tissue injuries at his new club.
  • Geelong could also secure Western Bulldogs’ Bailey Smith, who requested a move to the Cats.
  • There’s a long shot possibility that Clayton Oliver of Melbourne could join Geelong, pending a decision by the Demons.
  • Melbourne will hold talks to decide Clayton Oliver’s future, which could result in a trade.
  • Melbourne is considering whether trading Oliver would benefit their salary cap and culture reset.
  • Geelong will acquire Jack Martin as a delisted free agent, avoiding a trade for the forward.
  • Geelong’s draft pick #15 is committed to the Bailey Smith deal, limiting their trade assets for Oliver.
  • Melbourne may request a player from Geelong if the Oliver trade progresses, though Shannon Neale is likely off the table.
  • Geelong showed interest in Oliver earlier in 2024, but Adelaide is no longer pursuing him.
  • Melbourne contacted at least one other club regarding Oliver, which may have strained relations with the player.
  • Oliver is intrigued by the idea of moving to Geelong but the club isn’t actively driving the trade.
  • If Oliver, Smith, and Martin join, Geelong’s midfield will be significantly bolstered for 2025.
  • Geelong could offer a future first-round pick for Oliver, but Melbourne would likely request additional compensation.
  • Melbourne might have to cover part of Oliver’s salary if the trade goes through.
  • If compensation isn’t adequate, Melbourne could opt to retain Oliver despite internal issues.
  • Sydney veteran Luke Parker has requested a trade to North Melbourne, ending a 14-year career with the Swans.
  • Parker, 31, has played 293 games for Sydney and was the last member of their 2012 premiership team.
  • GWS player Wade Derksen has asked for a trade to Melbourne for family reasons, but the Giants are hesitant to let him go.
  • Several key GWS players are leaving as free agents, making the club reluctant to allow Derksen to be traded.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
