All Clubs need money, i am not disputing that, but in my opinion we give that game away too easily.
Over a period of 12 months there is no reason why $800,000 cannot be generated by a Club with 70,000 members, we need to become more innovative.
and we need to contest that 4 points in Melbourne

Make the memberships $5 more and there is $350K right there. Im sure others would be willing to even double or triple that without hesitation.

Freo are not a great side in Melbourne

They have had our measure for the last 2 games in the G albeit close losses.

Let’s take the $800,000 and turn it into a charter flight and package it for Dees fans also.

Ay the same time get Kossie  to run as Deputy Mayor of Alice.

We don't need to beat Fremantle in perth, its probably our hardest game left.

We do need to put in a good performance to show that we can match it with everyone and that will carry forward into the last 5 games.

Freo is still a very winnable game especially if its wet over there.

Well said. I've got us 5th even with freo loss

Quietly very confident about Sunday... we're on a roll right now, and Freo's not. Paired with their horror flight and a surprise loss last week, the boys can get the job done.

We win this, and we're somehow a chance to make top 4.

That’s the exact starting point i thought of yesterday $10 on every membership

it’s not hard

Agree.

And there will mutiple games from now on where contenders are playing teams who are def out of the finals race who have put the cue in the rack.

Richmond, North and WC are now effectively "playing" for pick 1 in the draft. Or pick 2 if you're North.

Essendon's loss is great for us.

We will be 5th at the end of the round assuming the Swans and the Giants win.

We will be 4th at the end of the round if the Swans win and the Giants lose...

Big caveat is that we win

For what it’s worth, Hodge has us finishing the home and away season with one loss and in 4th spot!

With a win tomorrow, I believe the wildly ridiculous best case scenario is currently that we finish this round 2nd. We would have to win and make up like 7-10% and then each of Carlton, Geelong, Brisbane and GWS all lose, which is possible as none of them play each other. Without the percentage gain we’d be 4th, and then 5-6 depending on if Brisbane or GWS win.

On the flipside, if Port win and pass our percentage (very possible) we can win and go down a spot on the ladder (all those sides above us win/don’t go below our percentage).

If we lose we may stay where we are if Port, the Dogs and GC lose, but worst case scenario we’d be 12th (Port, Dogs, GC and Collingwood win and the latter two pass our percentage).

So, our window at the end of this round is 2-12.

What the [censored].

Gee the bombers look as wobbly as all.

Let's face it they are on a run of 13 games out of 14 to be played in Melbourne.

From round 9 to 23 they play at Marvel or Mcg with the one exception of people stadium against the Suns which they lost .

Afl have moved everything to try and get this mob to play finals. A joke of a fixture. Talk about a.......FIX ture.

He won’t play again this year. We need to forget that fantasy.

Why? Serious question, if we do well over the next 5 games and were top 4, you don’t think they’d be some some discussions amongst coach and player. If he is doing any running in August AND we are playing well, the drums will start to beat.

Some considerations as I ponder our run home:

Positive - our bevy of young 2024 debutante players have picked up the gameplan and AFL standard footy really quickly, meaning we are now in the contest for every game we are in. We are rarely blown apart, and if we are behind late in a game, come home with momentum.

Positive - we travel well

Positive - Melksham's inclusion has given our forward structure a whole new sense of strength and variety.

Question - can our bevy of young 2024 debutante players keep it up through to round 23 and into the finals?

Question - how long will Max be out of action?

Negative - the form of Petty, Bowey & Salem.

Negative - constant reliance on Woewodin, Laurie, Billings, or Howe to come in and pinch hit for one or two scattered games, only to be sub or emergency and have to return to play at Casey. Unsustainable I would think.

He hasn’t even started running yet. How could he possibly be back to top condition in such a short period? It’s another injury waiting to happen and a risk the club won’t take.
Trac could have died. This isn’t being dramatic it’s the medical reality. He’s had two lots of internal surgeries and two lots of anesthesia.

why they continually put him as ‘indefinite’ and not ‘season’ on the injury report? This suggests to me that they are leaving the door open for him to return this season

It suggest to me that there are no guarantees of when he will return next year.

They'd then call it "Season" surely?

Well I think they don’t have a return date yet. If they say season and he doesn’t play until halfway thru next year the fans will have a meltdown.
To me indefinite means we just don’t know when he will be back.
I highly doubt it’s because they are leaving the door open for a return this year. Just look at this latest videos on TikTok, he looks incredibly skinny. I reckon he’s lost a heap of weight on top of muscle and conditioning.

Not to press this point too much, but they'd just list him as "season" and start him as "indefinite" next year, plus there'll be multiple videos over pre season with him if he doesn't make it back for 2024.

I don't think fans will have a meltdown if this is the media strategy we have (and should have).

I think it's unlikely don't get me wrong, maybe 1/10 not 0/10 but not fairytale either. However as you point out two lots of anaesthesia can be the hardest thing to work through depending on how you react. On tje other hand may e I've been watching too many action hero movies.

Would help if they published his weight so everyone on the site like me could give a considered medical opinion. But seriously if I had to bet I would put a months salary on he's done for the year.

When Melksham did his knee last year I'm sure they just listed him as season, not indefinite.

I'm not saying that I think indefinite means he can come back this year. I think it just means, we aren't putting any timeframe on it.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
