Tarax Club 4,189 Posted August 30, 2024 Posted August 30, 2024 Brandan Parfitt Darwin boy and a friend of my youngest daughter. Very generous with his congratulatory praise back in ‘21 when we won the flag. My daughter was able reprise that the following season when the Cats took the urn. Looks a solid player worthy of serious consideration. Given our midfield requires some strengthening and experience. 2 1 Quote

Tarax Club 4,189 Posted August 30, 2024 Posted August 30, 2024 (edited) Yes agree given that Geelong are participating in finals at AFL AND VFL levels. Current priorities of players would not likely to be beyond the finals horizon. Opportunities may still occur for promotion into the senior side and a change of fortune, from being overlooked to feeling more valued. Obviously a wait and see re-availability. I'm sure there would be multiple suitors in any case. The media driven frenzy, rife with hyperbole and speculation about possible player movement has reached a premature, overheated, fever pitch. Personally I try to avoid the threads 'running hot' on individual players thru multiple pages on these boards etc. The 'lids' will finally come off by Black Friday 13th of October. Question the sustainability of it all. Hope nobody gets burnt. Edited August 30, 2024 by Tarax Club 1 Quote

Young Angus 875 Posted August 30, 2024 Posted August 30, 2024 Hawthorn also have a very good coach that seems to be very well liked and trusted by everyone. I’m sure that goes a long way. Now I love what Goody has done for the club and I know the players like him, but cmon let’s deal with the elephant in the room I just can’t see that kind of work being done by Goody like what Sam Mitchel has done to attract players and sell them success. Everyone knows what Goody will do, boring defensive game play, it needs to change big time because the dees supporters need this change to get interested again too!! 1 Quote

He attracted Lever, May and Langdon, who were all vital pieces to the premiership puzzle. TPP then can become a problem when you win a flag. 11 Quote

They think you can just grab top end talent every year and there is no such thing as a salary cap 5 1 Quote

Take it to the bank. We may well go for Daniel, and he might be handy for us. But I'm thinking more about mids and forwards that can improve our stoppage and forward half work. That said, Daniel could improve our stoppage work as well. I think the template should be a mixture of Port's 2018 draft where they brought in 3 talented youngsters, and then I also think we can use some older guys like Daniel and Wright. Day would be a disaster and not make sense for our list at all, but I get you're being facetious. 2 Quote
Colm 2,204 Posted August 31, 2024 Posted August 31, 2024 I think we have to bring in a mature ruck I wonder if we could get Pittonet as part of the deal for Trac. If Trac goes to Carlton I think they will be a massive chance for the flag next year so most players that are under contract will be reluctant to leave and come to us. But if they tell Pittonet that TDK will be playing in front of him next year then maybe he could be convinced. Same goes for Cerra- if he’s told that Trac coming in means he won’t be getting a game then he may be more interest in a move. Not sure I want him but they could trade him out and get some capital in. 1 Quote

This is very true and back then it either at treat, but something isn’t right now and it needs to be dealt with. Very very happy to be proven wrong though Quote

Take a look at all the re-signings and they wouldn't be re-signing if they didn't believe in Goody and get on with him. Doesn't mean Goody can't get better though. 6 Quote

I agree it is positive, just wouldn’t mind seeing some adaptive game plans and, perhaps some more exciting interesting fun watchable footy wouldn’t go astray. I’m sure he has it in him and occasionally we see something we like I guess. Perhaps patience is required from us fans 1 Quote

I think it's likely we'll shift towards the 2018 style next year. We could play the 2018 attacking style in the H&A season and go back to the defensive territory game in the finals if we make it. 1 Quote
