It's crazy we gifted both Grundy and Jordon to a premiership contender. Not very strategic.

Strategy had nothing to do with it. Sydney finished eighth last season. How could anyone have known they’d be a premiership contender?

Hashtag hindsight etc.

I've been waiting 100 years for Geelong to be bad again. They are just like:

- The [censored] that won't flush

- A cockroach

- A thorn in the side

- Anything else that has been posted here a million times.

… a disposable nappy. Those things take hundreds of years to break down.

okay buddy

Carlton v Essendon is  impossible re. a good result.

Either side winning is enough to make you vomit even a draw gets each team 2 points which is just as bad.

You’re the one spruiking fantasy.
Both were best 22, don’t be ridiculous

mr sub Jordon? played plenty of games but was around player 22-25 in the squad

Grundy clearly not best 22. was available during finals didn’t get picked for the last couple of months

whos being ridiculous?

They both wanted to go, one as an unrestricted free agent.

Few other options from the club I would have thought.

Don't get in the way of every thread been overtaken by MFCSS. 🙂

If only we had Grundy i'm sure all our problems would be solved.

It was just madness. I will never understand it, we had some bargaining power, particularly with Gus involved….

The real story will come out one day…

Like when the Pies gave him to us for virtually nothing? it’s cap space and having no negotiation power for a player playing at Casey

Pies got bugger all for Treloar too

both with 5 years left on their contracts.

madness indeed

Nah I want essendon to lose. They have west coast next week. Any losses they have is good and I don't want them going further ahead on the ladder

it’s hilarious isn’t it? people just don’t get footy. Grundy would still be playing at Casey this year if he was with us

he missed a snap from 5m out today unchallenged. he is not a forward at all

Cats have lost 5 of the last 6 since we broke them

good times!

Do you think Scott will give Guilden a vote this week. Cameron getting the 5 is set on stone but….

We needed to get off the hook and we did so, I don't see why we would have had much if any leverage.

I don't want the Cats to win, given it's our best chance at making top 4 for them to lose, however this shows me how ridiculous the AFL fixturing is. Swans have had two byes already and the Cats haven't had any. The Swans look so fresh and the Cats are cooked and just hanging in there.

The AFL are a joke the way they run the fixture.

The AFL put the fix into fixture.

If Grundy had played against Carlton in the semi last year we would have won that game. And we would have gone on to win the flag. We all know this.

Wow I've triggered a lot of people here with my Grundy and Jordon talk.

Anyway, here's to Billings and Fullarton!

I think if Gus had retired straight away we would’ve offered Jordon more money, so that was unlucky.

the grundy one was the right move as it gave us more cap once we realised it didn’t work. Doesn’t help this year but will help over the next 5

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
