I want him laid out cold on the MCG turf.

The only thing that will make me feel remotely better.

I'll eat my hat live on Twitch if we win this one.

Interest factor only if I'm honest.

Won't happen.

And we won't win I'm afraid.

Need to show 1000% better contest work and pressure defensively on opposition ball movement. Was witches hat stuff today, totally unacceptable.

The Demons head back to Melbourne after an embarrassing loss to the Dockers to take on the Magpies at the MCG on Kings Birthday. With a calf injury to Lachie Hunter and Jacob van Rooyen possibly returning from injury who comes in and who goes out?

Who is willing to take a 10 week ban for knocking out Maynard? You’re in son.

no need to play two tall backs as they've not got one tall forward

i think this is a case of moving deck chairs on the titanic . we are cooked .

Play Jefferson.  Nothing to lose. The lack of depth at Casey is alarming but we knew that at the start of the season.  Oh wait, all except the football and recruiting departments.  Thought it was OK to lose Dunstan, Jordon, Hibberd, Brayshaw, Grundy, Harmes and Smith all really not replaced. It's a scandal. Midfield is tiring but Goodwin has never been one for rotation.  Development at Casey has been halted with an uncompetitive outfit. Max and May in their twilight. Viney has the body of a 35 year old at 30. It's over.

You’ll need a bucket-load of condiments for that one amigo! I’d be going truffle oil and mayo.. but whatever it is, choose wisely!

Yes depth isn’t as good as we may have thought. However Smith cannot be replaced and Brayshaw retired after draft day and is irreplaceable anyway. Jordon is the one we would have fought harder for or offered more had we known Gus wasn’t going to play. Hibberd retired and Dunstan was ordinary

Not a bad point but I think with JVR back it’s unlikely — that’s more one for when/if we start going down the off-season surgery road by round 19 etc I think but who knows I guess it’s possible!

I don’t think we’ll see wholesale changes but I do expect a debut.. AMW/Brown my guess, maybe Fullarton to give Max a chop-out and not have to have JVR ruck.. maybe Howes for Hunter, or Billings I suppose.. I think it’s wrong-round to debut a skinny key fwd!

I'm gonna guess 3 changes max!

Lord I hope I’m right & we respond, I still think the WCE game was worse — we packed this one in and they had all hail-Mary’s cashed.. we were flat as a tac etc but one thing is, we WILL find out either way!

The season is not quite cooked, in 1998 and 2000 we had some horrible mid season drubbings and still bounced back to win multiple finals. I know it’s clutching at straws to go back 25 years but it has happened.

Petty and McAdam can’t play in the same forward line together next week. Drop one, drop both, move Petty back if you must, but not those two together please and thank you. Turner no better either.

Salem, Bowey, Woey Jr, Rivers and countless others were all pathetic today but the cupboard is too bare to make meaningful changes in the smalls department. Please no Billings Goody.

Win and our season has a pulse. Lose and we are in trouble. Lose badly and I’m just about ready to put a fork in this era. The flag was amazing at least.

Sick of all this Maynard rubbish, it derailed our finals last year & mid 2024 we’re still taking about it, get over it!!!!!

Maybe a bit of focus about getting our season back on track

McVee May Petty

Bowey Tmac Rivers

Windsor Viney Langdon

ANB Oliver Picket

Chandler JVR Fritsch

Gawn Trac Salem

K Brown Woey Kolt Turner

Sparrow

Petty back is better for both him and team.  Oliver may be getting it, but very little is effective - he'd be a real headache in the forward line though as he can get his hands on it - forcing defenders to panic. We alsi need lots of run to match the pies out of Defence - note I suspect pup will be one of those players who plays better with good players around him i.e. first grade.

It’s no secret that I’ve been pretty much dead inside when it comes to football since the last time we played this pile of dog [censored] club. I don’t even carry anger or disappointment when we lose anymore. I get over it fairly quickly and my passion for the game will probably never be the same again.
Having said all that, I would take not winning another game for the rest of the year, so long as we obliterate this bunch of ****heads next week!

Agree, but we have lost our edge. I hope we pick Kolt because he has some, and I’d love to see some of our players stop being scared to tackle or crunch a player in a contest.

There’s no evidence that Oliver can get the ball yet alone do anything with it forward.

We need to understand his limitations with ball in hand as a mid but recognise his legs and reading of the play still seem powerful - even if he’s not using them. In that respect, he should be given the responsibility of a team first tag on Daicos. Does he have the discipline and work ethic - I think he does if he’s coached how to do it.

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

It was bad enough that the Melbourne Football Club created yet another humiliating scenario inside its wretched season at Marvel Stadium last Sunday, but the final insult is that it has been commanded to return to the scene of the crime to inflict further punishment on its fans this week. Incidentally, if this match preview, of a game that promises to be one of the most unattractive fixtures in the history of the game, happens to cut out of your computer screen three quarters of the way through, it’s no coincidence. I’ll be mirroring the Demons’ lacklustre effort against St Kilda from last Sunday when they conceded the largest last quarter turnaround for victory in the history of the game.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.
