I wouldn't read too much into this game.  St Kilda's pressure and effort was non existent.

    That's more like it !!

    We were a bit scrappy early but  a burst of class in the 3rd quarter did the business . After that, apart from a couple of disappointing junk time goals, we smashed them.

    PS . You will never see a better ruckman than Max Gawn !

    PPS. That new player, Thommo I think his name is, did ok too.

    First half was as boring as I’ve seen in a while, second half when we played on from the marks was really good to watch.

    defence were excellent. hardly missed a beat in Lever's absence (other than the last 5 mins. annoying conceding those junk time goals)

    Petty is woefully out of form. Maybe just not a forward I guess. It happens.

    Last 5 minutes were annoying but that was a solid win overall. We moved the ball much quicker which was good to see.

    Gawn was unreal. His tapwork was as good as it's been in years. 

    A big shout out to Tmac as well. He's been outstanding this year.

It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season.
