Disco has a strained calf and will be out for a couple of matches. He’s in really good spirits despite this. He said he’s confident he’ll be back for our Freo match.

Poor guy can't catch a break. Has been solid since joining. Looking forward to him having a good run after Freo. Seems like a good kid, and knows where the footy is. Can kick. Much to work with. Just needs some luck!

Given both Turner and JVR out BBB looking more likely

2 tall forwards down again - if Fullerton doesn’t appear now he never will.
Or Tomlinson with McD forward / ruck back up? Maybe even Verrall?  Was he at training?

Getting it out of the way earlier this year so we'll have better luck come finals?

I'd be going Fullarton myself.  He's the only one that's capable of filling JVR's relief ruck role in the middle.

He can also take the forward stuff.  Mind you i'm not saying he's great at this part of the game but neither is JVR.

He's also played two consecutive serviceable games as a KF at Casey.  Will he be able to step that up at AFL level in one match?  Probably not.  But then neither would BB in his present state.

Fullo just needs to compete, get the ball to ground if he aint confident of marking... and, stay outta Petty and Fritta's way.

A few down the line outlet or intercept grabs would be handy also which he's been doing reasonably well at for Casey.

This is exactly why we recruited him and his window may have opened.  No better opportunity to see where he's at than this week against bottom of the table Eagles.

JVR will be back against Saints and by what WCW is saying Disco the week after.
By then McAdam should be 100% ready and Melksham will be close too. I don’t think it’s panic stations just yet, not that you’re saying it is of course.

It's not great that we're down two forwards - but tbh it's the best time to have these issues. We're looking pretty good, it's vs the Eagles (who should not be underestimated of course, especially as it's there) - but I would far rather these issues now than against teams in the 8 right now.

We have recruited Fullo for a reason, so it really isn't a bad time to use him! Yeah he may not set the world on fire, but he kind of doesn't need to. Just chop out ruck relief, hopefully snag a few marks and if he scores, even better. He would be replacing JVR who, while being handy with the ruck relief and is developing well for a 21 yo, has not been in red hot form, so we just need someone who competes well. I think Fullo should be able to do this.

We need to remember that 12 days is the minimum time required to be out following a concussion. If it takes longer, so be it. Nevertheless, I hope van Rooyen only misses the one game.

Fullarton didn’t train. He came to the tent for five minutes with the different coloured vest on then went straight back to the rooms.

Have you got any good news?

Shane said after playing a full game for Casey on Friday he pulled up very well… no problems whatsoever. Fitness staff are really happy with his condition. He is playing one more full game for Casey (which is this Saturday). He’s been told he’ll be available for our Saints match.

Rooey said he’s sure he’ll only be missing the Eagles match. He was there today running around the boundary before the other boys came out. He said he feels perfectly fine but of course he’s doing everything he’s told to do.

It will be something like 17 days from Carlton to Saints. If no lingering issues he should be ok.

Yep. Good news for WA Dees fans: Captain’s Run this Saturday at Optus. Time to be announced later in the week on our website.

@WA Demon and other WA fans bring your kidlets as it’s definitely an open session! Selfies and signatures  opportunity.

Shane McAdam may get the call up too. Bracket the offensive, defensive performances at Casey in recent weeks. Plus a Hail Mary and sprinkle some of Jake B’s pixie dust about for good measure.

addendum; just read WCW’s post. Straight from the horses mouth. May have to reign in expectations.

Well it wouldn’t be a WCW training report without at least one meaningless (not insightful) post…

Blake Howes has two nicknames around the Club. Half the boys call him Howesy, the others call him Halfway (as in, halfway house)

Spargipants hasn’t been missing upper body days at the gym. He took his shirt off while I was chatting to him and Marty and Disco and I said, “whoa SpargiPants! Where’ve you been hiding those (muscles)?” He said, “I know, I look good, right?” I said, “yeah you look great. The only thing that rivals how good you look is your modesty.” I don’t think he understood 😝

Just remembered: Chin trained with everyone else and had no strapping on either knee. Likewise BBB. So there’s that. 🙂

Hey, that is something indeed! ❤️

Playing against WCE you’d think would be easy, but given he’d be lining up on McGovern or Barrass, I think he’d struggle.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
