I’m hoping that Steven May plays at least another 50 games with us just to be sure.!!

Hope for another 3 years of Magic also. 🙏

Won us a flag with his hamstring dragging behind him on the grass

Another great Steven May interview with Tim & Gazza, you can hear their admiration in their voices. Commercial pilot should be a Fighter pilot Lol.!!!

I fully agree with the well-earned Maysie praise, and just wanna add this to the list…

Mixed reactions at the time, even from Dees fans, but I for one applaud him for his honesty and resolve. Want the same old same old from player interviews? Then be sure not to listen to our boy Maysie, coz he’s as candid as they come.

Interestingly, he’s qualified to take a teammate out for a fly but no one’s put their hand up. 🤣🤣🤣

Just noticed it's the first of May, so happy Steven May Day to all who celebrate (excuse the photo - this was the only one I could find).

Don’t think anyone has played a more important 100 games for the club. He is pivotal in our structural set-up.

The first picked every week.

First game I saw May play was Round 2 2019. We lost by 80 points to Geelong, in Geelong, in the pouring rain. May did his groin and wasn't seen again until Round 12.

Fair to say he has come a long way since then. Still not perfect off field, but damn he is a good footballer.

If he had been drafted to a club other than Gold Coast, and had the right attitude from a young age, his career might be spoken about amongst the likes of Rance and Scarlett.

If he had the right attitude at Gold Coast?

May was famously competitive and an obvious leader. Which is why Gold Coast made him co captain at 25 , and why he was an absolute gun player in.huge demand before coming to the dees.

Rance and Scarlett are unarguably both legends. 5 and 6 x AA respectively. Premiership player x 1 and x 3 respectively.

But May is 100% on track to be considered in the same league as both.

If he plays two more seasons after this year he'll get close to 300 games.

He's a two time AA, and a real chance of adding a third this year.

And of course he is also a premiership player, who famously played with a hammy tear that normally would be a minimum 3 week injury.

There is often some very funny posts on dl.

Most of them are intentionally funny.

Some are not - but hilarious nonetheless.

The quoted post is an exemplar of the latter.

Brilliant effort to squeeze in critisisms and backhanded compliments about a plsyer who has, without exaggeration, become a legend of the club in only 100 games.

100 games means life membership.

Except may already had life membership for being a premiership player. A premiership that we probably don't win without him.

Come a long way since - check notes - a game we just happened to get flogged in?

Nice job highlighting that. Extra points for it being the same opponent we face this week.

If he had the right attitude at Gold Coast?

That is flat out hilarious.

He was famously competitive and an obvious leader. Which is why Gold Coast made him co captain at 25 , and why he was an absolute gun player in.huge demand before coming to the dees - not some nobody with potential.

If he had the right attitude hs career might be spoken about amongst the likes of Rance and Scarlett?

More comedy Gold.

Thanks for the laughs.

But on a serious note, show some @#$$$@! respect for a legend playing his 100th game for the mighty dees.

Think you are being a little harsh there Binman.

I was at the B & F as well and loved everything about his speech. He definitely wears his heart on his sleeve and bleeds red and blue. My favourite player. ❤️💙

Excuse me WCW, did you get permission to use my profile pic?

He completely won me over Round 14, 2020. We played the Saints in a night game in Alice Springs. We won by 3 points in a close one.

Trent Rivers, playing in game 5 of his career, was interviewed post game and glowing with the win. He was asked "what did Steven May say to you rather animatedly late in the last quarter" - Rivers replied "he said, you give me your best 5 minutes, and I'll give you mine".

Backline general, treating the next gen with equality and respect. Had several chats with him along the way, and he's a gentleman to boot. Absolute ripper.

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
