The Casey Demons played with a lot more energy in their second outing for the year than in the first so it’s fitting therefore that they travel next to Kinetic Stadium, Frankston to play an away game against fellow cellar dwellers Port Melbourne.

These teams have almost identical them songs and therefore, it isn’t hard to figure out the tune you will hear blaring out of Kinetic’s loudspeakers at the end of the contest.

Methinks, conditions are ripe for a drawn match.

Yes … that’s correct. According to the VFL site, it’s Port Melbourne at Kinetic Stadium which is almost in the heart of Frankston. Presumably, the Port ground is being repaired or in use for some rap concert.

Does this rule out the possibility of getting a Burraburger at the game?

You could get a Frangaburger but I hear they're a bit rubbery.

Selection will be interesting this week and obviously revolves firstly, around whether Kozzy is rubbed out by the tribunal tonight.

This is the list of players from Casey’s last game -

Jed Adams, Kynan Brown, Leo Connolly, Paddy Cross, Tyler Edwards, Kyah Farris-White, Tom Freeman, Tom Fullarton, Max Gregory, Campbell Husthwaite, Matt Jefferson, Andy Moniz-Wakefield, Ned Moodie, Charlie Peters, Josh Schache, Ollie Sestan, Tom Sheridan, Roan Steele, Mitch Szybkowski, Koltyn Tholstrup, Ziggy Toledo, Will Verrall, Mitch White

Bailey Laurie and Adam Tomlinson were sent to Adelaide to act as holdovers for the Port Adelaide game. Also since then, Lachie Hunter and Daniel Turner have been declared fit. Casey should therefore have a better side than last time they played which is encouraging.

A pity as it's probably my favourite VFA ground complete with giant dim sims and the famous Burra Burger'

The sausage sizzle at Frankston was nice on my last visit

Well at least, finally, this absolute joke of an AFL "support development competition" will get some games played.

The Frankston ground and lights are the BEST in the competion! As a suburban ground the viewing areas are SUPERB!

Is there going to be another eclipse on Saturday Picket?

At this stage I intend to have a little Peek!

All eyes on a few Saturday for possible promotion! If the Magician clunks a few and converts it could get interesting! same with Thommo, Schache, Fullarton, Brown Dog Pup, AMW, AAAAAND Hunter!

Unfortunately I think our depth has already been eroded due to off season departures, medical retirement and current injury list.  Not sure there’s currently anyone in the cupboard to bring in for the Tigers game aside from Pickett.

Laurie is probably the one who has a chance. I'm not seeing AMW making it but he could surprise.

Hunter is another but he needs a few games is my guess.

A pity the VFL team has a bye next week given they've just had one

Jefferson could break Fred Fannings record and still wouldn't be picked the next week.

Honestly so could Schache.

Based on the above and the club's published injury list these are the AFL listed players we can expect to see tomorrow.

Jed Adams, Kynan Brown, Kyah Farris-White, Tom Fullarton, Lachie Hunter, Matt Jefferson, Bailey Laurie, Andy Moniz-Wakefield, Josh Schache, Ollie Sestan, Adam Tomlinson, Daniel Turner and Will Verrall.

However, based on some of the training reports, one or two of the above might not play.

Magician??   If you are referring to Jefferson surely he needs a lot more VFL time.

I will be most interested in AMW - is he a possible HBF?  Though that would leave a very inexperienced small medium defence unit.

AMW I have been impressed with but seems to be perenially injured.Jeffo does something Van Rooyen doesn't. Takes consistent One grab marks

May wander down Picket. He's the one who may surprise a few. Van Rooyen has been incredibly disappointing for mine. I tend to be glass half full, but JVR now has the worst hands since old Richmond ruckman Mark Lee (if anyone remembers him)

"Coach, I don't need to play midfield minutes today, put me at half back" - Hunter, Seaston, Laurie and Brown say in unison while AMW pencils his name in there.....

Yep, we are not batting experienced this year at Casey, but there is a lot of young talent. We still have enough good players to be winning games in the 1s and the 2s are just going to struggle sadly.

I'll have a carnation between my teeth, a velvet jacket not dissimilar to that worn by Graham Teasdale and a cheese board. Mt Eliza local so will prop in front of the old stand if I rock up.

The cupboards empty, merely recycling battlers at this stage.

Seven of those at Casey have played AFL, and we have another five in the AFL that could easily join them.

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.
