Pies too ugly to be viewed in 4K

It seems that few FTA games are in 4k. If this is right the whole Kayo in 4k thing is a bit of a con

Channel 7 games would not be in 4K. Watched NRL in 4K on the weekend and it looked fantastic.

Here's a link to the games in 4k for the first five rounds

https://help.kayosports.com.au/s/article/Which-AFL-games-are-in-4K#one

Looks like 5 games a week

Our games for Round 1 and 2 are in 4k

Not sure what is the criteria for selection as a 4k game but Friday night games seem to be rarely 4k

Strangely Collingwood only has one 4k coverage in the first 5 rounds

as expected it's the fox production games only

c7 don't shoot in 4k

What a strange outcome where the bigger games get the lesser quality coverage

Reminds me of how long it took to drag the FTA channels into the HD world

Lots of complaining on various forums about the Kayo 4k shell game.

Foxtel does show Channel 7 games in 4k so it is available.

Some suggest it's a rights issue. Others say it's a capacity problem. Bottom line it's a lesser product. As an aside it's been suggested they have also removed the 5:1 sound channel from AFL.

Sounds to me like you get what you pay for with channel 7. You pay nothing so cop this.

I've been watching the 4k games on kayo (diagnostics showing 3840x2160) and I seriously can't tell the difference from the usual HD. Am I missing something? TV is 4k.

I've seen what its like on Foxtel but not Kayo yet. Will have to test it out.

Are you using a Smart TV app or chromecast/Apple TV?

Edit also apple tv but that's on an older not 4k tv

I've seen a couple of the 4K games as well on Kayo and it's only marginally better. I have very good eyes and am a stickler for this kind of thing. 1080p Kayo vs 4K Kayo is not worth an upgrade.

Yeah that's a tough one, should be coming through perfectly with those specs.

I got a Sony 4K as well but usually chromecast. Will have a play around with the TV app and test it out.

Maybe it is better but it's just marginal so hard to tell? I guess there was more definition in the grass etc but the actual game it was difficult to see much difference.

Maybe if I had a bigger tv I think mines 55"

I'm overseas so I've not had the chance.

Pity me on WatchAFL at 720p

Watch for the ball in the air. Can you see it clearly in the long shots?

I have a 55” Sony oled 4K tv. And to me the 4K picture looks far sharper and better defined than the standard hi def picture. Easier to watch and makes the experience of viewing the game just that little bit more enjoyable.

No doubt right Dr. the better the tv the better the result.

I have Telstra high speed Nbn.

Also have a very high res TV.

I live in Wollongong and I haven't noticed a difference in the quality of Kayo at all.

In fact it seemed a tad sketchy in the beginning of the game.

It's probably still broadcast at its old res but any excuse to sting it's customers.

It's Rupert remember.

Those private jets and yachts and wives all add up.

Can see multiple people beat me to it. I had the 4K come up on Kayo diagnostics. Honestly couldn't tell the difference from the 4K and HD. i have a 65 inch OLED using an Apple TV 4K.

I have noticed a lot of buffering issues with Kayo so far this year - never had this issue previously.

I had it last year on every live AFL games. Nett result I have not bothered with kayo this year. We have fibre to the house. I have numerous friends with similar buggering problems.

I have only watched the Sydney game, and the Carlton community series game on Kayo so far, and I had the opposite experience. Last year I had heaps of buffering issues, so far I have had none. Long may it stay that way.

I used to have buffering issues on android tv but apple tv was fine, since last year it seems the reverse, quality drops/buffers on apple tv but android tv app seems pretty reliable (though was a bit blocky early in the Dogs game).

  • POSTGAME: Sydney

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.

  • CASEY: Northern Bullants

The Casey Demons travelled to a windy Cramer Street, Preston yesterday and blew the Northern Bullants off the ground for three quarters before shutting up shop in the final term, coasting to a much-needed 71-point victory after leading by almost 15 goals at one stage. It was a pleasing performance that revived the Demons’ prospects for the 2025 season but, at the same time, very little can be taken from the game because of the weak opposition. These days, the Bullants are little more than road kill. The once proud club, situated behind the Preston Market in a now culturally diverse area, is currently facing significant financial and on-field challenges, having failed to secure a win to date in 2025.

  • GAMEDAY: Sydney

It’s Game Day, and the Demons have a golden opportunity to build on last week’s stirring win by toppling Sydney at the MCG. A victory today would keep them firmly in the hunt for a finals spot and help them stay in touch with the pack chasing a place in the Top 8. Can the Dees make it two in a row and bring down the Swans?
