I have heard if we keep 6, we’ll take Caddy.  In saying that we are definitely open to trading it to WC for their future 1st.

It was interesting that other clubs are the ones that contacted Jason Dover re:Dees consideration of trading p6 for WCE future 1st.

Melb would wargame all poss scenarios, so wouldn't be surprised if we’d talked about potential swap for WCE’s ‘24 1st rounder & then canvassed the clubs with picks 7-10 to see if they would potentially do a deal for 11 & a further pick we would get from WC. They possibly then would have fed that on to Dover, hence the convo & line from Melb.

Working to get pick 1 would still be the higher ranked objective, so Dees have to say they’d take Curtin (I’d very much hope he’d be in the frame for us regardless), otherwise you lose all leverage in trade talks. Curtin’s camp probably prefer he stay out West, so serves them well to put that out there one way or another.

Jeez I hope not - no disrespect to Caddy but I really don’t think we need to draft a forward with our first pick three years in a row, especially if Sanders, Curtin or even Leake is available (which at least one will be)

Caddy is in the same mould as Charlie Curnow

Might be something to this, Cal T. just linked us to Curtin and Caddy.

Mind you, last week Cal also said that he didn’t think the Dees would trade out pick 6 either.

I’ve heard the comparisons and would obviously love if we picked him and he became our version of Charlie

But tall forwards are just about the hardest position to pick when drafting - there are so many variables when bringing these guys into AFL environments, not least of which is whether their relative size and strength at the junior level will hold up against bigger bodies

I like his competitiveness and ability to mark at the highest point - but I just think there are others around him who have more bankable traits that, personally speaking, would compliment our current list better both now and into the future

More than happy to be wrong though!

Just listened to Gettable , Cal doesn’t seem to think North will pick Curtin at 2 or 3. Hawks are the biggest chance to take him before our pick. They are deciding between him and Watson

True, but if the Hawks take Watson, it sounds like the Dogs won’t take Curtin & he will get to us.

Cal Twomey, Shifter Sheehan and Riley Beveridge see us taking O'Sullivan at 6, after bidding for Ethan Reid, according to their phantom draft on today's AFL site.

They have Curtin going to North at pick 3, which make sense, as they need key defenders

As they stated, it wasn’t a phantom draft, it was a mock draft based on club needs, there’s a difference there. It was Sheehan who picked O Sullivan for us not the rest

Sure, wasn't denying that, however I reckon they would have worked the picks out together before recording

I doubt it. Sheehan is very inaccurate in these drafts each year.

Curious to know why some phantom drafts have Ryler Sanders slipping to pick 9 or 10!

Bloke couldn't have done much more, winning the Larke medal and being a key cog in the Sandy flag.

If he is available at our pick I would be really surprised if we don't take him, can never have enough midfield guns in my view.

He's a very very good player, but i think it's a combination of him being slightly one dimensional in a time when you have to be absolutely elite to get away with that in the modern game, and the teams around his mark having positional needs

I think the Hawks will take Watson.  I reckon if WC don’t trade with us then Curtin will slide past us

Are you saying we would pick Caddy over Curtin? Cal had us taking Curtin if he's still available at pick 6. I doubt Caddy would have been taken before pick 6, although Cal did later link Caddy to the Dees.

The other alternative offer could come from Freo, they have 3 2024 1st rounders, their own, Port's and Collingwood's so: F10 + F14 + F18 for 6? Curtin does barrack for Freo.

A bit of a bidding war between Freo and WC would be good: WC F1st + 23 for 6 + 42?

Seller's market!

From Fox Footy

Melbourne (Pick 6) and Geelong (Pick 8) will also consider Curtin should he slip to the latter stages of the top 10. But both clubs are also keen on Sanders.

I always wonder if the chips are beginning to fall a certain way, or if we’re being fed a narrative by the footy media leading us to these conclusions...

But I can now foresee a WC/North/Melb trade whereby WC are able to be convinced they can acquire their targets (always easier to be seduced by names rather than points/pick numbers) in Curtin (6), Collard (15/18) and change (our F1, etc.)

Obviously we’d need to acquire 2 or 3, and North pick 1.

I’d be relatively happy to receive pick 2 (Duursma), pick 15 & change for 6, 11 & F1.

Probably happiest to leave the F1 out of it, but it doesn’t worry me too much.

Curtin could become the best player of the draft so unless we get Reid, keep our picks and draft Curtin + best available midfielder at 11

Yeah, but so could Duursma, or McKercher or Reid.

That’s the point - we’re trying to get our hands on the best player in the draft, or 1 of.

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin
