Is there something I have missed? 2 games at Optus but 3 long haul flights surely it's 4?

The 3 'flights' were the two trips to Optus and one trip to Alice.

If counting the actual flights yes there are 4 involving Optus plus 2 involving Alice a total of 6..

Mal, if you have the time   I do like the Training Reports,   2024  starts today with pre season training and then the draft.

Cheers mate.

And if you are reading this site at this time of the morning, you must be bored with nothing else to do,

me I am packing the laptop and heading home but need to vacuum the flat to an inch of its life.

Hey, WCW, is there any way of getting this version of the Dees Fixture without the red highlighting?  Would be very grateful if you can provide.  many thanks!

Our round 24 home game V Collingwood could get 80,000 if top 2/top 4/top 6/top 8 spots are at stake for both sides. A good result considering we miss out on the gate for Kings Birthday next year.

And it could potentially be our only Friday night game in Melbourne next year.

I suspect we'll play Brisbane on Friday night at the Gabba in round 16 and possibly against the Dogs in round 21 at Marvel as there has to be a Friday night game at Marvel that weekend.

I’ve asked my Demon Army bestie who created this and I’m just waiting to hear back from her. If she can provide it I’ll post it here.

And here ‘tis…

She’s guessing our replacement home game will be either round nine or round 15. More likely round 15 since that’s vs North as opposed to round nine which is vs Carlton.

WCW, please tell your friend she is the BEST!!  Finding a nice, single line per game fixture is virtually impossible to find these days.  I usually have to make my own.  This saves a LOT of work!!  Cheers!

Collingwood's fixture in terms of their five interstate games....one being hawks in Tassie and another gold coast is a joke.

No wonder they won a flag.

Protected species is the dirty magpie.

I don’t hate Thursday night games. Admittedly I have no children, and work for myself and set my own schedule, so I’m onboard if they play games on Wednesday mornings. I’ll still go.

Work is for suckers.

I wish we had Monday night games.

Why are those 2 games a joke?
All clubs have those games .
Admittedly some haven’t had an AFL game at Launceston. Us btw.

It's because they only have five interstate games. Two of those are easy ones. Only one trip to Optus and no game in Adelaide other than Gather which all clubs have.

We visit Adelaide twice admittedly one for Gather ( but it's a S.A. team) and Optus twice.

Hawks at U TAS are not a joke ! Their record is  about 75% win and taken an MCG game off them.
Gold Coast they beat by 3 pts at Carrara.

Appear both to be danger games to me not a joke Beever.  Only easy one is West Coast.

Your right. But the issue for me is the longer travel with ours and also larger parochial crowds.

I don't really consider playing Hawks in Tassie is an interstate game as it's against a Vic team.

Cool. Now you can sleep easy at night knowing you won the case. That is, you’ll take credit for winning when it was your research assistant, @TheWiz who did the work. 😉

MEL ASP 2h 50m

MEL BNE 2h 10m

MEL PER 4h 10m

So my Demon Army BFF made this amazing fixture featuring our games only…

Being a diehard Storm fan she also made one with Storm games only…

Then because she’s an Excel Grandmaster and a bona fide numbers nerd she combined them coz why not? 😃

Nightmare of a fixture for interstate members looking to attend games at the G in the first 12 rounds. Would love to attend the Lions / Carlton games but having recently changed companies going to be tough to take two days off. Looks like Geelong is the pick of the bunch, luckily already got good seats to our first game.

The first 8 weeks is brutal in terms of difficult interstate trips and difficult sides at the MCG.

It is, but I think we can win our first 3, losing our next 3 would be a disaster. The short break between Port and the Crows is going to be tough. I’d take a win against Port, with potentially a few rotations against the Crows. Lions will be massive, up until the finals of 2022 we owned them for a few years, regardless of where we played them. I’d be very disappointed if we can’t get over Richmond and Geelong.

Richmond will be interesting under Yze but I agree they are in clear rebuilding mode and we should really account for them easily.

Going to Brisbane to see Radio Birdman on either June 28 or 29 and by magic MFC play the Lions the same weekend. Hoping the game is Thursday or Friday as going to Birdman on Saturday.

Please AFL make the game not be Saturday. God only knows how many weeks in advance Round 16 onwards will be announced.

Mods feel free to move or merge as you see fit.

Bummer. The fixture is set up to and including Round 15. You missed out by one week. I asked a couple of people who have a better idea than most and they said that we likely won’t know date/time until about Round 10 which is in mid May.

PS Say aloha to Steve and Danno from me! 😁

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.
