I can highly recommend the "Ignore" option WCW. I knew it existed, but only just found it yesterday. Only one person needed actioning, but it has made visiting Demonland so much less frustrating.ย

Yes but sometimes I like what the poster has to say, itโ€™s his aggressive nature I dislike. Besides, you still see posts from your ignored poster when somebody quotes them.

Agree, but the 10% of worthwhile content is not worth the pain of the rest IMO.

You may have seen my similar post re him a few days ago. There is enough sh*t happening in this world without voluntarily reading it on a fan forum.ย

I don't understand this round zero thing. When do we get our extra bye?

Sydney in Sydney to open the season will be tough considering the respective off seasons.ย

Grundy v Max again like the old days.ย

March 7th. Has the season started this early before?

I canโ€™t wait for Xmas day matches.ย

Rather play them up there than down here.ย

According to the article on AFL site the 8 teams that play in the โ€˜Openingโ€™ round will have a bye at some point between rounds 2-6.

Edited by Dee Zephyr

Are they really calling it โ€˜round zeroโ€™ to not offend Carlton and Richmond fans, who always play Round One? The AFL has jumped the shark here. Itโ€™s embarrassing.

its the first round of football for premiership points - itโ€™s Round One.

Another [censored] Thursday night match. I was hoping to go away for this one and take my girls to their first interstate trip.

Just do it. Take em out of school for 2 days. Theyll get more out of travelling to sydney than they will at school those days.

Ha ha,I hear you. Believe me my youngest would love to have 2 days out of school. Makes it tough for me when you run your own business that means one and a half days off. Was hoping for a Friday night or Saturday/ Sunday game. Iโ€™ve seen enough already Dillon Out!!!!!!!

So far every Dees game they've released has been one I can't attend.

Always keeping the loyal members in mind is the AFL!

Itโ€™s part of the season so the usual transport crowds and expenses are not โ€œextraโ€. Mostly itโ€™s a home game like any other and you get a few months notice of it happening.ย

Sorry that the AFL puts your life out on such a special night of the week. That dastardly Andrew Dillon he is as bad as that Gill bloke.ย

They should be sorry, it's extremely inconsiderate of them.

But honestly it does put your life out if you are faffing around with public transport at near midnight and have an early start the next day. Not everyone's footy going days/nights are created equal like yours.

As for having a few months notice, when has anyone ever planned ahead for a cold winter night that might deter them from going that day, the funds they will have available or the cruddy feeling of taking an hour to get home from the MCG late on a Thurs night?ย By that logic if you're going out for dinner in a few months you should have a much better chance of knowing what you're going to order because you have plenty of notice.

Maybe the 2000 Olympics year?ย

Looking forward to the Boxing Day Bonanza!

Was hoping the Sydney game would be on the weekend to make it easier to travel up.ย

Was earlier rumoured to be Sunday 3:20pm.

Yep this sucks. I want to go but a Thurs night makes it so much harder for Melbourne fans.ย

I accept the same argument applies for all four games but therein lies the rub of Thursday night games - they fail the gameโ€™s most important stakeholder, the fans.ย

For everyone bemoaning the fact that an interstate game means that they are unable to attend, welcome to my world which is spent bemoaning the fact that we canโ€™t easily get to attend most games for the entire season!

Living in Sydney, this will be the first time in memory, that I may be able to attend a Dees game as a season opener! Itโ€™s fantastic!!

Wouldn't have been ideal but a lot better than Thurs night.ย

I reckon playing them first up, before they've had a chance to gel as a team is probably as good an option as we'll get.

By round seven weโ€™ll all be on the same number of games played.ย

Covid prevented many Demons fans from legally witnessing the victorious 2021 AFL Grand Final cup performance between the Demons and the Bulldogs, but we all grin when remembering those magnificent seven third quarter goals. ย

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturdayโ€™s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFLโ€™s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterdayโ€™s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown andย  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
