Cabt sleep much right now, just so angry we lost again.

If Carlton play Collingwood in the GF then im moving to Alaska.

Sarah (Palin) is awaiting with much  anticipation. She has abandoned her lookout towards Russia for her south west post fixed looking securely towards the antipodes.

Heads need to roll! Once again dominated a game and got done! Fwd line coach has got to go, we haven't been the same since Darren Burgess left, he went to the Crows and look at how much they have improved while we have gone backwards. Broom the dead wood and get some hard bastards in, I hate seeing potential go to waste! What a waste of a season! Should have been a golden era!

I don't think heads need to roll as such, i mean we have been top 4 for 3 years now.

but change does need to be made, and the forward line is the start.

To be melo-dramatic and unrealistic... We have a choice. Yze to Richmond or Melbourne?

not a choice, Premiership coach and 2 top 4 finishes.  Bye Yze if he is good enough to get the gig.

I never watch a replay of a loss however as I was at the game last night I want to see what learnings I can glean. Once done I will mail it to the club, attention Kate Roffey! Dont expect any sugar coatings! Once done I will attend the next general meetings with all guns blazing and will want more than Rhettorical answers! First question I'll be asking is.. WHY DID WE EXTEND Simon Goodwins contract on the basis of a flukey Premiership win?

That was exactly the Tom Sparrow game that I've been pleading for. He was pretty much our best mid all night and I hope now he uses tonight game as a stepping stone into next year.

If he plays like that regularly each game next year then our midfield will be okay. Stick lacks quality depth but it's guys like Sparrow that we really need stepping up next year.

Also quick shout out to McVee. Did not one look overawed in the occasion in this year's final series and certainly embarrassed his more senior leaders around composure and being calm in the crisis.

25 games this year is a great development year which will only hold him in good stead over the next few years

A future 150-200 gamer in the making.

McVee and JVR, gives us some hope that not all is lost.

On the other hand, Langdon and Salem have regressed and we may want to fix that.

Goodwin used the word ‘learnings’ in his presser too last night 🤦‍♂️

May and Lever were huge (Lever especially early) and McVee was solid. Not blaming them for the loss just pointing out those that had zero tackles.

They did have two brainfades in the backline that cost goals. One where no one went up to compete and watched Carlton take a mark 20 metres out, and another where they all turned their backs on Motlop near the boundary, expecting him to go back and take a shot. He just played on, waltzed in and kicked it.

Langdon in his first two seasons struck the perfect blend between hard-nut and athlete that runs lanes and puts his body on the line. The last two seasons however, it seems he's strayed too far in the direction of lane running athletics. Only there to fill a strategic purpose, not allowed much 'space' to play on instinct, and kept out of the action too much to gain any kind of confidence to impact a 'match' with high disposals and metres gained.

The idea that teams have head coaches that do everything is misguided. That changed 20 or so years ago, give or take.

In various cases, the coaching role is split up - for instance the head coach might be the ‘people coach’ and an assistant/s the ‘technical/strategy coach’. Clearly the case with Collingwood - Leppitsch is actually coaching them, McRae is the positive morale and media man. I sense it’s probably the case with Melbourne - we all lay blame on Goodwin because he’s the face of the coaching department, but it’s probably not him calling the shots.

It's our style of play. We try to beat every opponent exactly the same way...and by 10 points. It is like pulling teeth to watch. We are told it is 'built for finals' but when we get there and watch the inevitable calamity unfold it just drains all enthusiasm.

I think deep down nobody trusts what this club is going to do so they don't want to make too much noise fearing the inevitable ridicule.

2018 was more exciting compared to 2022 and 2023?

Every time I’ve walked past Roffey she has looked completely unapproachable. I actually walked past her yesterday hours before the game sitting on a couch in the mcc alone. Didn’t exactly give a positive impression that she was the ‘president of the people’. Poor body language. That’s my impression anyway. Maybe just attention your correspondence directly to the board.

Lever bombing the ball down the line with 90 seconds left and only 5 points up. He just needed to run out the clock!

The coaching department didn’t think it was a viable way to win a flag because whilst we looked great going forward, we exposed ourselves the other way. It was similar to the way Collingwood play now. Maybe it wasn’t that bad after all, just that our personnel in defence was the main issue (ie Frost and OMac holding it up).

I thought Kozzies indiscipline was disgraceful

for all his brilliance his brainfarts cause me to question his importance

he certainly didnt perform in 23 like in 21 and the kozzie midfield experiment might need reconsideration

If McDonald ever pulls on a dees jumper again I'll eat my fist.

We absolutely played with a man down tonight and not subbing out was absolutely costly.

We kicked ourselves in the foot (if we could hit a target).

I'm livid

Wonder if Grundy refused to play??

Doubt he would have directly (he wants to be paid), but I have no doubt he may have indirectly through body language, etc.

As I’ve said before, something just doesn’t add up here. The combo didn’t work after a dozen games and it was thrown in the bin, remembering a number of those games were played in the wet, which was always going to negate the benefit of two rucks together. To simply be cut adrift where it didn’t even appear he was really in the frame for selection just indicates something else was at play (ie maybe a fall out or personality clash with someone important within the club). Could be wrong. I’m sure we will find out one day, either when he departs in a few months, or when his career is over and he tells all.

🎾🎾

This year really hurt.

16.28… our premiership this year was in those points

Collingwood - 9.6

Sydney - 9.14

St Kilda - 11.11

GWS - 15.11

Brisbane - 19.9

Port - 11.9

Carlton - 11.8 & 11.7

Melbourne - 7.11 & 9.17

We have the worst kicking of all finals teams. Just not good enough.

Feel angry and disillusioned because we lost, not because we weren’t good enough but because of ill discipline, especially from Pickett and JVR and poor selection - Laurie as sub last week and keeping TMac on too long this week. Spargo showed why he is important as a good decision maker and needs to be played. Our back 6 were superb and must be filthy with the forwards.

Could be worse, Port will be asking themselves later on tonight why they extended Hinkley on the basis of zero premiership wins

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
