That’s not the issue, at various points most have agreed with those points. The problem lies in the lack of in-depth analysis. There should be a show that spends 15-20 minutes on the 4 main games of each round and 5-10 on each of the other 4. Some analysis beyond 3 glammed up clips trying to prove a point.
I’d call it AFL On Monday. I’d have Hoyne, Me and 3 others (no one springs to mind sadly) and we’d get deep, both technically and spiritually in our analysis. They’d be no Ralphy, no Brereton, no Robbo, no King, no Huddo and The Bounce would be axed. We’d replace On the Couch and AFL 360 and we’d be on on Monday and Thursday (Wednesday if there was a Thursday game) Post and Pre total analysis. We’d rate the absolute shizzle off the crud currently on offer. The start and end credits would be the best plays/marks/goals of the week. We’d go to training, wade through stats and flesh out the meaning of them. Can’t believe it hasn’t been done already. Oh and no ads.
7-9pm

I will settle for just no "the bounce". Excruciating.

You really shouldn’t watch that dribble. You may as well read afl.com if you want poor journalism and no serious analysis.

was Robbo coherent or dribbling?

I’d watch it for sure! First Crack is almost what you want but it’s not as in-depth - Hoyne would be great, his work on SEN Tuesdays is great to listen to.

Nowadays I think the best approach is probably a podcast  but boosted on steroids with access to footage and champion data, which ain’t cheap. Ultimately you’d need one of AFL, Ch7, Ch9 or FOX to bankroll it and given they have zero creativity I don’t see it happening.

I miss Finey on SEN. Loved his talkback radio as well. A true footy fan

I miss the number of people who called him 'Viney' by accident as well.

My thoughts ...

Tommo in.

Smith back to being sub. He's a classic impact player. (Ted Hopkins says hi!)

Clarry in, of course. Harmes out.

Not sure where this leaves Hibbo. Obviously if Bowey is injured, he (Hibbo) takes his place in the 22.

Appreciate your view and absolutely agree but if it wasn't an underrated aspect then you wouldn't see the likes of Schache, Weideman and Watts taken so high in drafts.

This in built nature to know exactly how you position yourself as a forward is definitely what I look for as well and then using your movement to best advantage, the push and pull is a great way to put it. You don't have to be a G-train or Travis Cloke but you have to be able to hold ground. The guys who don't have it look like they are running around in circles.

Fritta has it down in spades and a great example of this. He's not the strongest or biggest player by any stretch but uses his balance and timing to lean into opponents to move them out of the way or to propel himself into the right spot.

I'd watch it if it focused on the real facts. Plenty of news, views and reviews and quality bants.

Apologies in advance, layzie...but for some reason this expression annoys me probably more than any other. After all, what other sort of facts are there? And before anyone answers...I know the expression "alternative facts". But if you think about it, that just proves my point, doesn't it?

PS: What are "bants"? Slang for banter?

Smith could work if they keep trying to do what they did in the Richmond game and in the second and third quarter of the roos game let him be one out like Petty with Melk leading with kossie and chandler as outliers because unlike the roos the bluebaggers won't flood like North they will take the game on or like the they did against the pies game when got blown away early they went more man on man this will an interesting game to watch.

Where did he go?

When Craig Hutchison took over the running of SEN, Finey lost his on-air position there. After that he did some podcasting with Rohan Connolly using the Footyology site. I'm not sure if he's doing that any more, though.

Only real facts as opposed to fake facts and plenty of great quality bants......what are bants just so I know?

Haha no stress LDVC this was all tongue in cheek making fun of common sweeping statements.

Yeah short for banter. Bit silly really, only saves typing 1 letter.

Thanks for clearing that up. After I posted my query I started to think that perhaps "bants" was a typo for "rants". I wouldn't have been able to concentrate for the rest of the day not knowing whether bants meant banter or rants!

Fair assumption, maybe there should be some for both like 'quality ranter'. It can be the 'intercept mark' of English.

Sorry going off track for this thread but to answer this Finey wanted a change of scenery post COVID and is now running a deli called Lenny's in Caulfield, slight change of scenery from talking AFL!

Seems like we're not the only club with recent long-term injuries, it's just part of footy:

Pies - Daicos

Dees - Petty

Lions - Ashcroft

Cats - Henry, Blicavs

It’s bad enough when the media at large don’t listen to Goody but surely our supporters should. He has said ad nauseum “WE ARE NOT TRYING TO TURN HIM INTO A FOWARD…JUST LEARN SOME FORWARD CRAFT”. We will see how that’s gone if or when he comes back in. And he will ….

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
