Time this thread got a bump as trade speculation on the Harley continues.

The only way this clearly happens is if we trade some of our WA talent. Now i dont want to throw names from our end, but suspect there will be a few that wouldn't mind be trading back to their home state.

WCE in hindsight would be kicking themselves that they didn't take our offer in 2023. They will never get the same value as the offer we put forward.

Bombers in the drivers seat atm...it would be awful if that came to fruition.

To be honest think Reid is too expensive. He’ll hamper a clubs ability to attract other talent. The Bombers have one serious player, let them have 2 and see how they go.

Reid for Koz would be an acceptable trade...both pretty "next level" players I have them on similar levels in my head, be it biased or not :)

Yeah if Callaghan is attracting $17m offers I can only imagine what clubs will be prepared to pay for Reid.

It’s going to be ludicrous sums. I’m not sure you can build a team like that. I wonder what Jackson will cost us if he and Pickett agree to trade places.

Langford, Reid, K. White, Lindsay, Windsor and Rivers/McVee as your future centre / follower line will win you premierships.

Who’s our fullback and CHB?

~$1m per year. Depends how good his 2025 is.

We don't have them on our list and it's been one of my frustrations in our recent recruiting.

Maybe we're hoping to build it through trade like Lever and May.

Surely Petty is one.

Couldn't Fullarton play a spoiling key back role? Even AJ might be able to play a key back role. Disco can play back and Adams is improving.

There is still a Draft and Trade and FA to fill holes.

Reid is still learning his position. I don't particularly like him at this stage. But he will be given time by their new coach.

I trust the MFC brains trusts knows more than me. But with hindsight it could be that we couldn't go for some more Moneyball-type players who would've added more value  It could also be that Reid ends up more the standard of Travis Johnstone as opposed to Judd, D Martin or Fyfe.

It would probably be something like taking over his current contract, with maybe some small extras.

I know the Club was desperate to try and draft Harley Reid when he was the number #1 draft pick.

However, I don't know if we have the draft capital or the salary cap space to fit him into the Demons?

Never say never though!

Means players need to be traded, I’d guess jvr and Pickett would have to be involved

Well we are kind of resigned to loosing Pickett anyway either this year or next few. So it’s really just one more and who knows with jvr been from wa he might be asking to go back anyway. I’d hate it but if that’s the reality you could do worse

Adams says hi!

Never ceases to amaze me that D/Lers always want to go and get a certain player for a position or instead of another player we are developing.

Realise that some ready made trades are necessary to top up high draft picks or other lower draft picks as they develop.

But  some fans can’t wait and all the time want trades irrespective. It can’t work out like Geelong or as the Pies are copying now.

Adam Simpson said he doesn't do the extra little things that are needed to be a top player.
