These two sides and Brisbane are so so aggressive. Hopefully our sanity and commitment to a defensive game is the difference this year, because it's certainly bucking the trend.

Port clearly tanked last week to rest players for tonight.

Port will get it done tonight

Finals are a different game. Rarely are they open and attacking.

God Zorko is a despicable [censored] of a human

While it's common knowledge he's a card-carrying [censored]-wit, I found myself wondering (while watching the game) how on earth he managed to a) become captain and b) hold the position for so long. There's no way Brisbane could possibly win a premiership with that [censored] at the helm. His tool antics just undermines everything they're trying to be/achieve.

What I would pay to see Geelong turn into West Coast and become a rabble. Thats how much I hate the [censored].

That's the thing though. Geelong don't bottom out

Longmuir 😵 cards, marked?

Quaynor is 100% the best small defender in the comp.

Judd McVee does not endorse this post 😂

What an electric first quarter. I think it's pretty clear many sides are fighting fire with fire this year, and it will be a bit of a crapshoot.

I back the Dees gameplan to bring a bit of control to these other maniac sides going hell for leather.

I think port are tiring and the pies will run away with this, and stake their claim for all doubters as being the clear hunted side this year.

Mickey Mouse season. We need to win a real one to validate it in my mind.

Could maybe make the case for the 2020 season with fixture disruption and shortened quarters, but not 2021. Reality doesn't owe you or anyone else a grand final win at the MCG.

Really 4th or 2nd is our ideal finish I think.

Unless Port finish first, which is unlikely. They have a harder draw than the Pies.

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didn’t just beat Gold Coast — they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #28 Will Verrall

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #29 Tom Campbell

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #30 Harry Sharp

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lions’ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #31 Bayley Fritsch

Worked his way back after a slow start and a further slump in form going into the midseason but became a solid contributor for the club in the latter half of 2025. Closing in on 300 goals for the club.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
